Nanotechnology and the Computer Industry

Posted in general by maverick @ Apr 21, 2007

Over the last century, computers have dramatically reduced in size. From the size of a room, to fitting on a desk, it is all down the parts inside becoming smaller and smaller. It is no wonder then, that the impact of nanotechnology on computers has been huge. Implementing nanotechnology with computers will result in not only lighter components, thus smaller and lighter computers, but also the speed of them.

It’s obvious when you think about it. Smaller technology is going to result in lighter frames, and then if you really start to think about it, it is also going to result in faster machines. The smaller the distance from one point to another, the faster transmissions can be sent around circuit boards. Yet aside from this insightful piece of knowledge, a special type of nanotechnology has already been created in the form of ferroelectric crystals. The amazing properties of these and the impact they are having on the computing industry are not just their size, but also the special properties that they have. (more…)
