I've been extremely satisfied using the Dell Premium Active Pen PN579X on my Yoga AIO. Honestly, I didn't want to shell out a ton for the official Lenovo branded pens when more versatile alternatives exist. This Dell pen is a solid choice because it supports Wacom AES 2.0 and even MPP if you have other gear. The pressure sensitivity is very consistent for photo editing tasks. I actually went the DIY route for savings by hunting down a refurbished unit online. It works well and I've had zero complaints so far. If you're worried about the screen angle causing hand cramps, I suggest adding a generic silicone grip sleeve meant for styluses. Its a cheap way to improve the ergonomics. Another budget-friendly option is the HP Rechargeable Active Pen G3 which you can often find cheaper on secondary markets. Both give you that premium experience without the high price tag.

I finally pulled the trigger on the ROG Ally X and man this thing is a beast compared to my old Z1 Extreme. The extra RAM and that massive battery are literal game changers for my commute but now Im running into a super annoying issue. I have like three different cases from my original Ally—the official travel one and a couple of hardshells—but none of them fit properly anymore because the X is just so much thicker with those improved ergonomics. Its like trying to squeeze into jeans from high school lol.

I really need something sturdy because I have a long flight to Tokyo coming up in three weeks and I dont want my joysticks getting crushed in my backpack. I looked at some of the dbrand Killswitch stuff but I dont think the fit is quite right for the new chassis dimensions yet and I definitely need full enclosure. Im looking to spend maybe 50 bucks max since the handheld already emptied my savings account. Does anyone know if there are dedicated Ally X cases out yet that actually account for the extra depth and the moved ports? Or maybe a steam deck case that fits it better than the OG Ally ones?...

I totally get that pre-order stress, its the absolute worst. I actually had a similar nightmare on a trip to Tokyo last year where my bag got shoved under the seat and the pressure actually messed up my left stick inside a generic case. I learned the hard way that hard shell doesnt always mean crush-proof if the internal design is just a flat pocket. You really want to make sure whatever you get has molded indentations for the triggers and sticks so they arent taking the weight of your laptop or hoodie. I would suggest looking at the Sinvitron Hard Shell Carrying Case for Switch. It has an extra reinforced middle layer that most of the cheaper ones skip, which gives way more peace of mind for the screen. Another one I really trust when I am packing light but still want that rigid feel is the MambaSnake Hard Shell Protective Case. It has a bit more internal clearance than the Tomtoc so your joysticks arent constantly being clicked down while your bag is stuffed. Just be careful with the zipper quality on some of the ultra-budget ones tho, you really dont want those failing at the terminal. Let me know if you need more info on how they fit in a pack!

I picked up the Thrustmaster eSwap Pro Controller PS4 specifically for the modularity, but it wasnt as good as expected long-term.

T-MOD tech lets you hot-swap the analog sticks without opening the shell

Mechanical buttons provide much better tactile feedback than the standard DS4 membrane

Very low input latency since its a wired-first design Unfortunately, the modules are expensive and the ergonomics feel a bit like holding a brick. The software is also pretty buggy. It technically solves the drift problem because you can just buy a new module, but the total cost of ownership is high. Battery life isnt even an option since the PS4 version is wired-only. Its a solid technical choice if you dont mind the cable, but the build quality feels a bit too plastic-y for the price imo.
