Hey everyone! I just recently pre-ordered the PS5 Pro and I am really looking to step up my game in competitive shooters like Apex Legends and Modern Warfare 3. I have been using the standard DualSense since the original console launched, but I am starting to feel its limitations, especially when it comes to stick drift and the lack of extra buttons for movement.
Since the Pro is designed for better performance and higher frame rates, I want to find a controller that actually matches that potential. I am particularly interested in a few specific features:
- Hall Effect joysticks to ensure I never have to deal with stick drift again.
- Physical trigger stops or digital clicky triggers for much faster firing rates.
- At least four remappable back paddles so I can jump and slide without taking my thumbs off the sticks.
I have been looking at the DualSense Edge, but I have heard the battery life is pretty short, and I am curious if third-party brands like Scuf or Victrix might be better for a dedicated competitive setup. I really want to make sure I am making the right investment for this new hardware. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for the best pro-style controller to pair with the PS5 Pro?

The Nacon Revolution 5 Pro PS5 Controller is probably your best bet if you want Hall Effect and 4 back buttons in one package. Most players use the PDP Victrix Pro BFG Wireless Controller for PS5 for the modular layout and clicky triggers, but it lacks Hall Effect. Honestly, for a PS5 Pro setup, the Nacon stick accuracy is hard to beat for long-term durability.

Honestly, if you are worried about the investment, the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller for PS5 is the safest bet. It lacks Hall Effect, but the swappable stick modules are a huge practical advantage. Third-party software can be hit or miss with new console updates, so staying first-party saves you headaches. Plus, its got the trigger stops and back buttons you need for competitive shooters.

I think focusing on those hall effect sticks is definitely the right move. I'm not 100% sure if the big name brands have released specific Pro versions yet, but I heard some of the modular ones are way better for shooters. Honestly, having those back paddles is a total game changer tho, it makes movement feel so much smoother once you get used to it.
