Best protective carrying case for the Switch OLED model?

I finally upgraded to the Switch OLED model, but I’m worried about keeping that beautiful screen safe! My old case for the original Switch is a bit of a tight fit since the OLED is slightly wider, and I’m looking for something more protective. I’m specifically looking for a hardshell case that has enough room for a few physical game carts and maybe a slim power bank. I’ve been looking at the Skull & Co. and Tomtoc options, but I can’t decide which offers better drop protection. Does anyone have a favorite case that fits the OLED perfectly without putting pressure on the joy-cons? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

yo, congrats on the OLED! Honestly, I totally get the struggle of finding that perfect balance between protection and price. If you want a hardshell that's basically a tank but wont break the bank, you gotta check out the Orzly Carry Case for Nintendo Switch OLED. I've been using mine for months and it's amazing because it actually has enough depth to fit the OLED without squishing the joy-cons, which is a HUGE deal.

Technically speaking, it's got a solid EVA hardshell that absorbs shock way better than the cheap generic stuff. Plus, it has 8 game slots and a mesh pocket that’s surprisingly roomy. I manage to fit a slim power bank like the Baseus Adaman Power Bank 10000mAh 22.5W in there along with a cable, and it doesnt feel like it's putting pressure on the screen at all. It’s definately a high-value pick if you're looking for maximum utility on a budget. Hope that helps! gl with the search!

yo, congrats on the upgrade! honestly, i went through 3 cases before settling on the Tomtoc FancyCase-G05 Slim Case for Nintendo Switch OLED. it's basically a tank but surprisingly thin. i dropped mine from about 4 feet onto hardwood and the hardshell took it like a champ. plus, it has these molded grooves so it literally puts ZERO pressure on the joy-cons or sticks. i can squeeze in ten carts and my Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux power bank without it bulging. gl!

Just sharing my experience: I went through this exact same struggle last year when I realized my original case was basically crushing the OLED joy-cons. In my experience, technical specs for these cases usually miss the most important part—the clearance for the ZL/ZR triggers. I've tried many over the years, and I eventually landed on the Skull & Co. Maxcarry Case for Nintendo Switch OLED. It has that hardshell protection you're looking for but includes a recessed area so there's literally zero pressure on the sticks.

Technically, if you're looking for that slim power bank fit, the Skull & Co. GripCase OLED Bundle actually has enough internal height to clear something like an Anker 523 Power Bank PowerCore Slim 10K without the screen feeling the squeeze. I was lowkey worried about the drop protection too, but the shock-absorption on the edges is legit. Do you think you'll be using a grip on the console itself? That usually changes which hardshell fits best tho.

Just catching up on this thread and i totally agree with what was said about trigger clearance. If the case is too tight, you're basically begging for stick drift issues later on. From a more technical spec side, if you're looking for something that actually fits a power bank without crushing the screen, i'd look at the Spigen Rugged Armor Pro for Nintendo Switch OLED. I did some measuring on mine and the internal depth is actually a bit higher than the Tomtoc ones, which gives you more vertical clearance for accessories. I actually modded the interior of mine slightly by adding a thin layer of micro-fiber cloth to the game flap for extra screen protection... kinda a DIY fix but it works great for peace of mind. It fits the Ugreen 10000mAh Power Bank perfectly in the top mesh. The hardshell is made of a really dense EVA foam too. It's usually about 25 bucks and honestly feels like it could survive a drop down a flight of stairs. Just be careful not to pack too many thick cables in there or it'll put pressure on the glass regardless of the shell.
