Is the Seagate Expansion Card the best storage solution for Series X?

Hey everyone! I’ve finally hit that point where my Xbox Series X internal storage is basically full. Between Game Pass and a few massive titles like Starfield and Forza, I'm constantly juggling installs and it’s getting pretty annoying. I’ve been looking into the Seagate Storage Expansion Card, but that price tag is definitely making me hesitate.

I know it’s one of the few ways to actually play 'Optimized for Series X|S' games directly without moving them back and forth, thanks to the Xbox Velocity Architecture. However, I’ve seen some people using external USB 3.1 SSDs for older titles to save money. I’m curious if the seamless integration and Quick Resume support on the Seagate card truly justify the premium cost over a standard external drive. Also, now that Western Digital has their own C50 expansion card out, does the Seagate still hold the crown for reliability or speed in your experience?

I really want a solution that doesn't feel like a compromise every time a new 100GB update drops. For those of you who pulled the trigger on the 1TB or 2TB Seagate card, do you feel it’s the definitive best storage solution for the Series X, or should I be looking at other setups?

TL;DR: Ngl, I’ve tried many setups and the WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card for Xbox 1TB is ur best bet. It’s basically identical to Seagate but way better value.

Seconding the recommendation above. Honestly, I've had issues with the high costs and it's definately not as good as expected for the price. The Western Digital WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card for Xbox 1TB is basically the only real alternative to Seagate. You could also try:
* Samsung T7 Shield 2TB Portable SSD for non-optimized stuff to save space. It's a tough compromise, but these cards are the only safe way to ensure full compatibility. gl!

Agree with the C50 talk! But honestly, just get a Crucial X6 2TB Portable SSD for cold storage—moving files takes minutes and saves u tons of cash in the long run tbh.
