Hey everyone! I’ve been getting back into my PS4 library lately, but my current setup is lacking. I’ve just been using some old phone earbuds, and honestly, the audio is tinny and my friends keep complaining that they can barely hear me in the party chat because of the weak mic. I’m looking to upgrade to a dedicated gaming headset, but since I’m a student, I really need to keep it budget-friendly—ideally somewhere under $60.
I play a lot of competitive shooters like Apex Legends and Warzone, so having decent directional audio to hear footsteps is a must for me. Also, I wear glasses, so I’m really concerned about finding something with soft ear cushions that won't pinch my frames during longer 3-4 hour sessions. I’ve been looking at some entry-level models from HyperX and SteelSeries, but I'm worried about the long-term durability of the cheaper builds. I've had issues in the past with plastic headbands snapping after just a few months of use.
Does anyone have experience with a reliable, low-cost headset that actually holds up? What would you say is the best bang-for-your-buck PS4 headset that balances clear microphone quality with long-term comfort?

For your situation, I’ve spent a ton of time testing budget sets cuz I’m also a student and get the struggle lol. Honestly, I’m super satisfied with the HyperX Cloud Stinger 2 Wired Gaming Headset for games like Apex. The directional audio is actually really solid for the price, and those memory foam cushions are a godsend if you wear glasses like me. I’ve used them for 4-hour grinds with no pinching at all. Compare that to the Razer BlackShark V2 X Wired Gaming Headset which feels a bit more robust if you're worried about plastic headbands snapping. The passive noise cancellation is lowkey better for Warzone, but it can feel a bit tighter on the head. Then there is the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+1+Wired+Gaming+Headset&linkCode=osi&------123456890?7649-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wired Gaming Headset—it’s super low profile and has a detachable mic, but the ear cups aren't quite as plush for glasses. Honestly, I had a plastic headband snap during Warzone once and it was the most disappointing thing ever. Quick question—are your glasses frames thick or thin? Lesson learned: you probably need metal hinges like on the Corsair HS50 Pro Stereo Gaming Headset, but those are kinda tight so idk if they'll pinch your frames or not lol.

In my experience, the Razer BlackShark V2 X Wired Gaming Headset is your best bet: - light for glasses
- good positional audio It's basically the best budget pick i've used.

If you want something that wont snap after a few months, you gotta look at the Cooler Master MH630 Wired Gaming Headset. Most people sleep on Cooler Master for audio, but the build quality here is miles ahead of the entry-level plastic stuff. It uses a steel frame and the hinges are reinforced, so it handles being stretched out way better than the all-plastic competitors. Technical-wise, it features 50mm neodymium drivers with a relatively neutral frequency response. Tbh, most budget headsets are way too bass-heavy which actually drowns out the high-frequency sounds of footsteps in games like Warzone or Apex. The MH630 is much cleaner. For your glasses, it uses mesh fabric ear cushions instead of sticky pleather. The foam is super soft and breathes well, so it wont crush your frames against your head during 4-hour sessions. Its usually right around $55. Basically the best pick for durability and mic clarity in this price bracket.
