Hey everyone! I'm planning to pick up the Switch 2 as soon as it drops, but I'm honestly terrified of scratching that rumored larger screen. I'm usually pretty clumsy, so I need to have my protection kit ready on day one.

I'm specifically looking for:

  • A tempered glass screen protector that doesn't interfere with the dock
  • A hardshell carrying case with extra room for game cards and a charging cable

Since the dimensions are supposedly a bit different from the original model, I'm worried about buying something that won't fit perfectly. Does anyone have early leads on which brands are most reliable for the new hardware?

Honestly, I'm the same way. I wont even take a new console out of the box until I have the protector ready to go. Based on the leaked dimensions, you really want to stick with brands that have a good track record for day-one fit. I usually go for amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Switch 2 2-Pack because they're super thin, usually around 0.3mm, so they wont mess with the docking station at all. Plus, they're way cheaper than the official ones but just as tough. For a case, I'd wait for the Orzly Rugged Hardshell Carrying Case for Switch 2 to hit the stores. Their cases always have that extra flap for game cards and a mesh pocket for a cable, and the hardshell is legit solid enough to survive a drop. Just make sure you get the specific one for the new model since the original cases definitely wont fit the larger body.

Are you planning on traveling much or mostly playing at home? Asking because the case bulk really matters for protection. Quick tip: keep the screen glass under 0.3mm so you dont scratch the dock. I am considering the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Tempered Glass for that easy install frame. Also, the Tomtoc Hardshell Slim Case is usually a safe bet for durability.

ngl i have this exact same issue right now. ive been digging through tech archives and spec leaks for weeks trying to find something concrete because i am super picky about technical tolerances. over the years ive tested basically every major brand for the older models and i usually have a spreadsheet going for stuff like glass thickness vs dock friction. i've noticed some brands prioritize a tight fit while others leave too much wiggle room... but for the switch 2 im totally flying blind. it is so frustrating not having the actual dimensions yet because i dont want to gamble on a day-one purchase that might be a hair too thick or have a case that rattles. still looking for answers just like you and it feels like we're just stuck waiting for someone to leak the final cad files. been dealing with this for a month now and the lack of data is just killing me.
