I just picked up the new ROG Ally X and I am loving it so far! However, since it is a bit thicker than the original model, I am worried about finding a case that actually fits properly. Are there any rugged options or slim hardshells that accommodate the new grips and larger battery? What are you guys using to keep yours safe?

For your situation, i definitely get the worry cuz the ally x is basically a chonkier beast with that 80wh battery lol. i am still kinda new to all the technical specs but i did some digging because i was worried about the fit too. anyway, here is what i found:

  • ROG Ally Premium Case: This is the official one. it is pretty slim and basically guaranteed to fit the new dimensions, but it doesnt have much room for cables.
  • Spigen Rugged Armor Pro Case for ROG Ally X: I think this is the best rugged option. it actually has space for the thicker grips and feels super solid.
  • dbrand Killswitch Case for ROG Ally X: This is a really nice slim hardshell. it is super precise and doesnt add too much bulk. I would suggest the Spigen one if u want maximum protection. it just feels more durable i guess. gl!! 👍

So basically the consensus is that the extra thiccness of the Ally X makes finding the perfect fit kinda tricky. Jumping in here because I've been looking at the market research on these dimensions and it's honestly a bit of a headache right now. People earlier mentioned using stretchy sleeves or looking for deeper cutouts, but you gotta be careful about the technical specs. I've had issues with cases that claim to be universal but actually put way too much pressure on the screen. Here is what I would watch out for:

  • 1. Avoid anything labeled for the original Ally. That extra 5mm depth means the zippers will strain and eventually fail, or worse, crush your thumbsticks.
  • 2. Watch out for generic brands on big retail sites. They often just reuse old molds and label them as new, which is super disappointing when it arrives.
  • 3. Be wary of tight hardshells that dont have specific clearance for the new macro buttons on the back. It's lowkey a waiting game for more brands to catch up. GL!

Just found this thread and honestly I get the safety concerns cuz that new battery makes it way thicker. I'm still learning about the technical specs but basically you gotta find something with deeper cutouts for those new grips.

> since it is a bit thicker Story time: I've spent too much on shells before realizing a simple stretchy sleeve fits best. Honestly it's cheaper and works better... wasted so much cash lol
