My old gold wireless set finally kicked the bucket, and I'm looking for a solid 2024 upgrade. I need something with great 7.1 surround sound and a reliable mic for party chat. My budget is around $150. Since I’m still on PS4, which wireless models currently offer the best battery life and comfort for long sessions?

Ok so I totally feel u, losing the old golds is like losing a teammate lol. I was pretty nervous switching cuz I dont know much about tech, but I eventually picked up the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+7%2B+Wireless+Gaming+Headset&linkCode=osi&------123456890?7649-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless Gaming Headset and honestly it has been soooo good for my long PS4 sessions.

Here is what I recommend for ur budget:

* <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+7%2B+Wireless+Gaming+Headset&linkCode=osi&------123456890?7649-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless Gaming Headset - The battery literally lasts forever (like 30+ hours) and it's super comfy.
* HyperX Cloud II Wireless Gaming Headset - This one is also highkey great if you want something that feels really sturdy.

I guess just make sure to check if the 7.1 works perfectly on PS4 specifically, but these should definitely handle your party chat no problem!! peace

Honestly, been thinking about ur question and over the years I've tried many different setups. Since you're on a budget of $150, you gotta be cautious because some brands talk big on specs but the build quality is basically junk. For a solid PS4 experience without breaking the bank, I would suggest looking at the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset. It's super comfortable for long sessions, which is huge if you're like me and play for 5+ hours straight.

The surround sound is pretty decent for spatial awareness, but the real winner is the mic quality for party chat—it’s actually clear and doesn't pick up every little background noise. Another safe bet is the Sony PlayStation Pulse 3D Wireless Headset. Even though it was marketed for PS5, it works perfectly on PS4 and fits your budget perfectly. In my experience, staying with official gear is usually safer for compatibility. Just make sure to keep the firmware updated or it might act buggy! gl with the search lol

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year when my old headset died. Honestly, I spent forever looking at driver specs and frequency response ranges because I wanted that perfect spatial audio for my PS4 setup. I basically realized that since the PS4 uses a proprietary wireless protocol, the technical bottleneck is often the USB dongle's latency rather than the headset's actual drivers. Anyway, I ended up prioritising 2.4GHz over Bluetooth cuz it's way more stable for party chat. But realy, are you looking for a closed-back design for isolation or something more breathable?

Just saw this thread and honestly I’ve been spending way too much time lately looking at comparison charts and spreadsheets because I’m trying to find an upgrade too! I’m still kinda a noob with all the specs but I’ve been researching how different brands stack up and noticed the Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is actually super affordable now and since it’s official it seems like a safe bet for PS4 users? But then I also looked into the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX because the battery life on those is supposed to be insane compared to the Sony ones and I’m just wondering if the extra money for Turtle Beach is worth it for the build quality... I’m really torn between sticking with the console brand or going with a specialist company because some people say the Sony ones feel a bit plasticky after a while? It’s basically a toss-up between official compatibility and those crazy battery stats you see on the third-party market research so I’m still trying to figure out which way to lean lol.
