Hey everyone! I just finally treated myself to a Nintendo Switch OLED, and that screen is absolutely stunning. Since it’s a bit of an investment, I want to make sure I’m protecting it properly and getting the best experience right from the start. I’m already looking at tempered glass screen protectors, but I’m overwhelmed by the sheer number of carrying cases and ergonomic grips available. I plan on playing in handheld mode quite a bit during my daily commute, so comfort and portability are huge priorities for me. Also, with the 64GB internal storage, how big of a microSD card do you actually recommend for a digital library? What are the top three 'essential' accessories you think every OLED owner should pick up first?

Sooo I went through this last year and honestly spent way too much time obsessing over value vs performance. Just catching up on the thread and like Reply #1 said, the hand cramps are real!! I found that you dont always need the priciest gear to get a fantastic experience tho.

I ended up comparing these two for my commute:
- Skull & Co. NeoGrip for Switch OLED: I loved this because it has swappable handles and actually fits in the dock!!
- MambaSwitch Grip Case: A solid budget alternative, but honestly not as ergonomic for my hands.

For storage, I found the Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 to be amazing value. It’s basically identical in performance to more expensive brands but usually costs way less. Anyway, thats just my experience finding the best bang for my buck. Good luck!!

yo, congrats on the OLED! technically speaking, that screen has an integrated "anti-scatter" film that's actually just a thin layer of plastic, so you 100% need a tempered glass layer over it to prevent permanent scratches from the dock or everyday use. For storage, it's worth knowing the Switch uses a UHS-I bus—so buying a super expensive V90 card is basically lighting money on fire cuz the console cant even hit those speeds anyway.

Here's what I recommend based on the hardware specs:
1. Storage: I'd aim for at least 512GB. The Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 is the sweet spot for price-to-performance. It hits the 100MB/s read speed limit of the Switch hardware perfectly.
2. Ergonomics: Since you're commuting, the Skull & Co. NeoGrip for Switch OLED is a pro move cuz it has swappable grips to fit your hand size and actually fits in the official dock. The Joy-Cons themselves have zero palm support which is why your hands cramp up during long sessions.
3. Protection: You need a hardshell case that actually fits the console with a grip attached. The Skull & Co. Maxcarry Case is pretty great because it has a huge storage compartment for cables and power banks.

Honestly, prioritize the storage first. Modern titles will eat that internal 64GB in like... two seconds. Just stick with a high-quality A2 rated card and you'll be set for a long time. gl with the new setup!! 👍

Basically, my hands cramped until I got a Satisfye grip! TL;DR: Definitly grab a 512GB SanDisk microSDXC, ergonomic grip, and glass protector. They're amazing value for protecting your investment!!
