Seriously what are the absolute must-have accessories for a new PS5 because im honestly at my wits end here. I finally managed to snag one from the Best Buy near my place in Austin after months of waiting and honestly the out-of-the-box experience has been kind of a nightmare. The storage space is just pathetic i mean seriously how is it 2024 and I can only fit like four big games before it starts yelling at me to delete stuff? I spent half my weekend just watching progress bars move back and forth and im already fed up with it.

I really need some solid recommendations for an internal SSD that isnt gonna cost more than the console itself but wont crap out on me in a month. Also the battery life on the DualSense is just... wow. It feels like I get maybe 4 or 5 hours tops before it dies and I have to sit two feet away from the TV like its 1995 just to keep it plugged in. Are those charging docks actually worth it or are they just more plastic clutter?

I have about 250 bucks left to spend on fixing this setup before my wife starts asking why I spent so much on a paperweight that doesnt hold any games. I mostly play late at night when the kids are asleep so if there is a headset that actually makes the 3d audio sound good without being super heavy and uncomfortable i need to know about that too. My ears get so hot with the cheap ones I have now and it just adds to the frustration. Im looking to get this sorted by this weekend because I have some time off finally.

  • SSD that actually fits the slot
  • Charging station for two controllers
  • Better headset for long sessions

Just let me know what i actually NEED to buy so I can finally just sit down and play the games I bought without a constant headache...

I totally get the storage frustration! It is honestly a massive relief once you finally upgrade. For safety and pure performance, I highly recommend these specific items:

Been thinking about your storage situation and honestly, i went through the same thing trying to find the perfect balance between speed and price. I spent hours looking at technical benchmarks because i was worried about thermal throttling in that tiny expansion bay. Drives need to hit at least 5,500MB/s but ideally 7,000MB/s read speeds to keep things snappy in my experience. I ended up with the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink and it has been bulletproof. The heatsink is a total must if you dont want the drive to slow down during big installs. For the heat on your ears, i switched to the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Arctis+Nova+4P+Wireless+Headset&linkCode=osi&------123456890?7649-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Arctis Nova 4P Wireless Headset specifically because the fabric is way more breathable than those cheap faux-leather ones. Quick tip: if you go the charging dock route, the official Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station is best because it uses the bottom pins, saving your USB-C port from wear and tear.

I remember when I first got mine and had to delete Spider-Man just to try something else, it was brutal. I learned the hard way to be careful with SSD heights because the slot is weirdly picky. Before I suggest the gear that worked for me, how much total space are you aiming for? Also, do you need the headset to be totally wireless?

This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.

Regarding storage frustration, the Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB SSD is way more reliable than the Kingston KC3000 1TB NVMe. The WD runs cooler, tho the Kingston is cheaper.
