Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the Switch OLED model, and man, that screen is absolutely gorgeous. Since this is a bit of an investment, I really want to make sure I’m protecting it properly while also getting the most out of the handheld experience.
I’ve already started looking at screen protectors, but I’m torn between the standard plastic ones and tempered glass—does one work better with the new dock? I’m also planning on taking this on my commute, so I need a solid carrying case that isn't too bulky but has enough room for a few physical cartridges. I’ve noticed the console feels a bit flat during long play sessions, so I’m also curious if anyone recommends a specific ergonomic grip that fits the slightly different dimensions of the OLED model.
I have a budget of around $100 to get geared up. Aside from the basics, are there any 'hidden gem' accessories that you consider essential for a better gaming experience? What are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend to a new owner to keep the console safe and comfortable?

yo congrats on the upgrade! honestly that OLED screen is literally life-changing lol. since you're on a budget, you gotta be smart with your $100.
first off, tempered glass is the only way to go. basically plastic scratches way too easy and looks cheap. For the dock, the amFilm OneTouch Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch OLED is super thin and fits perfectly without sticking.
Here's what I recommend to stay under budget:
- Screen protector: amFilm OneTouch Tempered Glass Screen Protector (~$10)

Seconding the recommendation above! Tempered glass is seriously a non-negotiable for the OLED cuz the screen is actually glass with an anti-shatter film, so you want that extra layer of protection. Plus, the standard plastic ones just feel gross after a while lol.
Since ur looking for ergonomics on a budget, you gotta check out the Skull & Co. NeoGrip for Nintendo Switch OLED. It's technicaly the best value because it lets you keep the console in the dock without taking the grip off—super convenient. For your commute, I'm happy with the tomtoc Slim Case for Nintendo Switch OLED. It’s military-grade drop tested but way thinner than the Orzly, so it actually fits in a bag easily.
