So I finally hooked up my old PS4 again for my dorm room since I cant afford a PS5 yet but Im looking to pimp it out a bit for 2024. I saw people online saying a SATA SSD is a total game changer for load times but then others say the bottleneck on the base model makes it pointless? My logic was that faster is better but I dont want to waste $50 if it doesnt actually help much. Also was looking at the dualshock back button thingy but idk if people even use those anymore for stuff like Bloodborne.
Are these actually still worth getting now or am I just overthinking it...
In my experience, you're better off with an external Crucial X8 1TB Portable SSD instead of swapping the internal drive. It's way easier to set up, tho the downside is losing a USB port. I've tried many setups and the HyperX ChargePlay Duo DualShock 4 Charging Station is also a must for dorm life because it keeps things tidy. Back buttons are mostly for competitive shooters, so they're honestly kinda useless for Bloodborne.
ngl i tried that ssd upgrade on my base console and it was kinda disappointing. unfortunately the load times didnt drop nearly as much as i hoped because of the hardware bottleneck. it felt like a waste of cash tbh. the back button attachment i got was also super clunky and made my hands cramp... i wouldnt bother with those upgrades if i were you. let me know if you need anything else tho!
