I just picked up the ROG Ally X and I'm loving the extra battery life! Since it is slightly thicker than the original model, I am having trouble finding a carrying case that fits properly. I am also looking for a reliable dock and a tempered glass screen protector. What specific accessories are you all using for your setup?

Stumbled upon this today. Honestly, I had issues with official accessories being not as good as expected for the price. Here is what I suggest for better value if your looking for deals:

Curious about one thing: are you planning to use the original charger or are you upgrading to a 100W brick? Before I give a final verdict, I need to know cuz it changes which dock is actually safe to use. I've done a lot of market research and honestly, most generic stuff is disappointing and fails under load. Here is how the main brands compare right now for the X:

Ok so, seconding the recommendation above. Especially about not forcing the Ally X into old cases... thats a recipe for broken thumbsticks. I actually had issues with generic docks before that almost overheated my device, so safety-first is definitely the way to go. You want stuff that wont fry your expensive handheld or wear out the battery prematurely.

In my experience, the absolute first thing you gotta watch out for is buying stuff made for the old model! Seriously, dont waste ur money on OG Ally cases cuz the X is way thicker. I tried jamming mine into my old slim case and I almost snapped a joystick... highkey terrifying lol. Heres how the cases I tried stack up:

  • Official ASUS case: Perfect fit but honestly too expensive for how little it holds.
  • Spigen: Super tough but makes the device feel like a literal brick in ur bag.
  • Tomtoc: Best balance of price and protection imo. For the dock, I suggest JSAUX or Ugreen over the official one. You get more ports for half the price. Just make sure the cradle is wide enough for the thicker X body! I ended up going with a JSAUX dock and a larger generic case. It works great and saved me a ton of cash. Also, just get a cheap 2-pack of tempered glass from Amazon... they all feel the same anyway and ur gonna want a spare if you mess up the install like I did!! gl!
