I finally pulled the trigger on a PS5 Pro pre-order, and now I'm looking to upgrade my controller setup to match. I've been using the standard DualSense, but I'm worried about stick drift and the battery life is just too short for my long gaming sessions.

I've been researching a few specific options:

  • The DualSense Edge for those back buttons and replaceable stick modules
  • The Victrix Pro BFG for the modular layout and competitive features

Since the Pro is such a big investment, I want a controller that feels just as premium and durable. What are the absolute must-have controllers I should consider for the PS5 Pro?

Stumbled on this today. Before I jump into specs, what genres do you mainly play? If you are heavy into competitive shooters, trigger actuation and polling rates matter way more. Quick tip: look for Hall Effect sensors to fix drift long-term. I would check out the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro Controller because it uses magnetic sensors instead of standard potentiometers. Its basically the only way to avoid stick issues for good.

Whats your budget looking like after dropping all that cash on the console? If you want something super high-end, the Razer Wolverine V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Controller is basically the top tier for performance.

Congrats on the Pro pre-order! Honestly, if you're worried about stick drift like I was, there is really only one safe choice that makes sense for a long-term investment. I've gone through three standard controllers because of drift over the years, and it's a total pain to deal with. I highly recommend going with the Sony DualSense Edge Wireless Controller. It usually retails for about $199, which is a big spend, but the peace of mind is worth it for a cautious gamer. The main selling point for me is the replaceable stick modules. If you ever start getting drift, you just buy a Sony DualSense Edge Stick Module for about $20 and swap it out in seconds. You don't have to throw away a whole expensive controller or deal with warranty claims. Regarding the battery life, yeah, the Edge is actually a bit shorter than the standard one because of the extra features. To manage that, I use the Sony DualSense Charging Station. It keeps the setup looking clean and makes sure I'm always at 100 percent when I start a session. The Victrix is okay for competitive stuff, but it lacks the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. If you're buying a PS5 Pro, you probably want the full immersion. Stick with the official gear for the best reliability and compatibility, imo.
