I'm already trying to get my setup ready for the Switch 2 launch next year whenever it actually drops and im honestly torn on what to do about controllers. I play a ton of Mario Kart and Smash with my roommates in my apartment so I definitely need at least 4 controllers total for the living room but I dont want to spend a fortune. My budget is around $150-170 for the extras since I already spent way too much on games this year.
I'm looking at a few paths right now:
If the rumors about the magnetic attachments are true then the third party joycon replacements might be a total waste of money which is what scares me. I really hate the drift on the current ones so hall effect sensors are a huge plus for me. Do you guys think its better to buy the old reliable Pro controllers now or wait to see if the new ones have actual improvements like analog triggers? I'm mostly worried about the feel of the buttons since we play for hours at a time...
Are you guys mostly playing docked or handheld?
Saw this a few hours ago and been thinking about my own setup. I finally swapped over to Hall effect sensors last year and honestly, I've been so satisfied with how they handle the deadzones. No complaints at all compared to the old graphite pads that just wear down after a few months of Smash. I'm kinda tech-obsessed so I spent way too much time looking at the polling rates and latency on my current pads. They work well for the local couch sessions. Honestly, if the rumors about magnetic rails are true, it's gonna be a game changer for the mechanical durability. I learned the hard way that buying cheap third-party stuff without decent specs usually leads to ghosting during high-input games. My current ones have been solid tho. Just hoping the new console supports the same Bluetooth protocols so we dont have to rebuy everything.
