I’m loving my Switch OLED, but the Joy-Cons are starting to feel cramped during long Zelda sessions. I’m looking for a solid third-party controller with better ergonomics and Hall effect sensors to avoid drift. Has anyone tried the Mobapad M6 HD or the 8BitDo Ultimate? What’s the most comfortable and reliable pro-style controller you’ve found?

Oh man, I totally feel u on the Joy-Con struggle! I’ve been gaming on Nintendo handhelds for like, decades at this point, and honestly? The default controllers are just way too small for long sessions of something like Zelda. I spent forever looking for the perfect setup for my OLED and I’ve basically tried everything on the market.

In my experience, the Mobapad M6 HD is literally the gold standard if you want to play in handheld mode. I’ve been using them for a year now and the Hall effect sensors are amazing—zero drift and they feel so much more premium than the stock ones. The mechanical buttons have this super satisfying click, right? It’s almost like a high-end mouse.

But if you prefer a traditional pro-style controller for TV mode, I’m obsessed with the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller with Charging Dock. It’s fantastic because it also uses Hall effect sticks, so you dont ever have to worry about that annoying drift coming back. Plus, the charging dock is so convenient... you just plop it down and it’s always ready.

Lesson learned after buying way too many cheap knockoffs: definitely spend the extra bit for the Hall effect stuff. It’s totally worth it for the peace of mind. Both of these are seriously top-tier choices! Good luck with the search, hope this helps!! 👍

Quick question - are you mostly playing in handheld mode or docked? Because it kinda makes a huge difference for ergonomics. NGL, the Mobapad M6 HD is basically the gold standard for handheld since it's got those mechanical buttons and Hall effect sticks, but it's like $80-90 which is highkey pricey. If you're on a budget, the NYXI Hyperion Pro is a decent option for like $50-60 and also has the Hall effect sensors. But yeah, let me know how you usually play so I can help u find the best deal!

Ok so I went through this last year. I spent way too much on high-end pads before realizing the costs really add up if you aren't careful.

1. Watch out for "pro" tags that jack up the price without adding hall sensors.
2. Don't skip the case; some third-party ones won't fit standard carrying bags, which is a total pain.
3. Honestly, check the return policy cuz some feel cheap despite the hype.

I'm super satisfied with my budget setup now, no drift yet! 👍
