Which high-speed SD cards work best with the Nintendo Switch 2?

I am getting so stressed about the Switch 2 launch and I really want to be ready with a huge SD card on day one. I read online that it might support UHS-II speeds which would be insane for loading times but then some tech guys on reddit are saying it will probably stick to UHS-I to save on costs.

I have about 150 bucks set aside for a 1TB card since I plan on going all digital this time but I dont want to buy a super expensive SanDisk Extreme Pro or something if the console cant even use that speed. My current Switch is totally full and I hate deleting stuff... does anyone know which standard is actually confirmed?

Honestly, I have been following these hardware leaks for quite some time, and Nintendo usually prioritizes manufacturing costs over bleeding-edge specs. While UHS-II would be nice, the price per gigabyte is still way too high for casual gaming right now. I have been very satisfied sticking with high-quality V30 UHS-I cards because they offer the best balance of speed and storage capacity for the money. Based on my experience, these 1TB cards are the best value right now:

Based on how Nintendo typically handles their hardware revisions, they tend to favor cost-efficiency for the end user. I have been extremely satisfied with the reliability of high-capacity UHS-I cards lately. Honestly, even if the new console has a faster bus, the real-world difference in loading times often doesnt justify the massive price hike of UHS-II. I have had a lot of success with these options:

  • Samsung EVO Select 1TB microSDXC UHS-I U3
  • This one is very affordable and works well for high-speed data transfer.
  • SanDisk Ultra 1.5TB microSDXC UHS-I
  • This is my go-to for maximum storage capacity. Both cards provide consistent performance and definitely fit within your 150 dollar budget. Tbh, having that extra space is much more satisfying than chasing incremental speed gains... especially with a massive digital library.

I wanted to grab something during the last sale but I ended up waiting because the specs are so vague. Unfortunately I had issues with my last high-end card dying early so I am strictly looking at budget stuff now. Spending 150 bucks on one card feels like a total scam if Nintendo just cheap out on the reader again. Honestly just look at the Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC or maybe the Lexar PLAY 1TB microSDXC if you see a deep discount. I am probably just gonna grab two 512gb cards instead of one massive 1TB because the price jump for 1TB is still kinda gross... definitely wont be worth it if it is just a basic UHS-I slot.
