I just picked up a Switch OLED and my library is already filling up! Iām looking for a microSD card that balances speed and price. Should I stick with the official SanDisk licensed ones, or are the Samsung Evo Select cards just as reliable for load times? Also, is 512GB the sweet spot for value right now, or should I go for 1TB?
I went through this last year when I filled up my internal storage in like... two weeks lol. I was super paranoid about fake cards or ones that might fry the slot, so I did a deep dive into the specs. Honestly, the branded cards that the first guy mentioned are fine, but I felt like I was paying a 20 dollar tax just for a tiny mushroom icon I'd never see.
I actually ended up testing out the SanDisk Extreme 512GB microSDXC UHS-I Card V30 U3 A2 vs the Lexar PLAY 1TB microSDXC UHS-I Card 150MB/s. Technical-wise, the Switch only reads up to 95MB/s anyway, so the 'Extreme' speeds were kinda overkill, tho the load times felt *slightly* snappier on the SanDisk. But man, that 1TB Lexar is actually a beast if ur a digital hoarder like me. 512GB is definitely the value sweet spot right now, but if u plan on keeping ur whole library installed, 1TB saves u the headache of deleting stuff later. Just be careful where u buy from cuz there are sooo many fakes out there... maybe stick to big retailers? gl! 👍
In my experience, you're better off skipping the branded ones lol.
1. SanDisk 512GB microSDXC-Card, Licensed for Nintendo Switch: Costs like $50? Too much for a logo tbh.
2. Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 130MB/s: Basically $30. Speeds are identical for Switch load times, right?
Honestly, 512GB is the sweet spot cuz 1TB is still sooo expensive. Is ur library really that big already?? Anyway, good luck!
Same setup here, love it
Curious about one thing: are you planning to go mostly digital or do you buy physical carts? honestly if you're a digital hoarder like me, even SanDisk Ultra 512GB microSDXC UHS-I Card fills up sooo fast lol. lmk so I can help u pick between 512GB and 1TB!
