got my rog ally x last week and honestly the battery is way better than the original but it still isnt enough for my daily train ride or the long flight i have coming up to london next month. i really need something that can handle the 65w draw so i can use the full turbo mode while im stuck on the plane for 8 hours.

im currently torn between a few options:

  • the anker 737 (powercore 24k) because the screen is cool and it seems super reliable
  • the baseus 65w 20000mah cause its way cheaper and i could spend the extra cash on a carrying case
  • ugreen 145w power bank which i saw on sale today but i dont know if its overkill

my budget is about 120 bucks max and i really need to make sure whatever i get is actually tsa compliant because i dont want it taken away at security. the anker looks solid but its heavy as hell and i worry about the bulk in my backpack. the baseus is slimmer but i keep seeing reviews saying it gets hot when charging at full speed. which one of these is actually going to give me the best performance for the ally x specifically...

Unfortunately, I had issues with that Baseus 65W 20000mAh Power Bank getting way too hot and throttling speeds. It was honestly not as good as expected for 65W gaming. Just grab the Anker 737 Power Bank 24000mAh 140W even though it is a total brick.

  • Use a 100W rated cable or you wont hit full turbo.
  • Keep it under 100Wh (27,000mAh) for TSA.

Agreeing on safety, cheap packs are sketchy. Im satisfied with these:

  • Baseus Blade 100W Power Bank 20000mAh stays cool and slim.
  • Anker 747 Power Bank 25600mAh 87W is super reliable.

Honestly some of those brands you mentioned are getting way too expensive for what they actually offer. Unfortunately, I had issues with the cheaper Baseus bricks not being as good as expected when you actually push a 65W draw for hours. They feel kinda cheap and it is super frustrating when they throttle mid-game because of the heat. The market is just full of overpriced, mid-tier bricks right now tbh. I switched to the CUKTECH 20 High Power Bank 210W 25000mAh and it handles the Ally X draw perfectly. It is built way better than the plastic stuff you usually see and stays cooler. If that is too much bulk, the INIU 140W 27000mAh Power Bank is a decent budget pick that actually hits its rated speeds without much drama. Quick tip tho, make sure your cable is rated for 100W or you wont hit full turbo regardless of the bank.

Just catching up here. Like someone mentioned, going cheap usually backfires. I had a unit that started overheating and smelled like melting plastic mid-flight, which was terrifying. Honestly, it wasnt as good as expected.

  • Are you looking for something that fits in your handhelds carrying case or just a backpack?
  • How many full charges are you actually hoping to get? Check the Reddit ROG Ally sub wiki for their compatibility spreadsheets.

I love that you mentioned the Ugreen option because I actually have the UGREEN 145W Power Bank 25000mAh 90Wh and it is absolutely amazing for my handheld! It works perfectly for 65W charging and it hasnt let me down once. Safety is super important to me so i double checked and it is 90Wh which is totally TSA compliant! You definitely dont want those airport security guys taking your expensive gear away. I was worried about the Baseus too because of those heat reports but the Ugreen stays pretty cool even when pushing the full speed tho. Plus the 25000mAh capacity is fantastic for those long flights to London! It feels really sturdy and reliable compared to some of the cheaper ones i tried. Honestly just go for it if you see it on sale because its a beast and totally worth the cash!
