Which vertical cooling stand is best for a PS4 Pro?

Hey everyone! I’ve been using my PS4 Pro for a while now, but lately, I’ve noticed it getting pretty loud and running hotter than I’d like during long gaming sessions, especially with more demanding titles like God of War or Horizon Forbidden West. I’m currently keeping it horizontal on my media console, but I’m looking to switch to a vertical setup to save some desk space and hopefully improve the airflow.

I’ve been browsing Amazon and seeing a ton of different options, from basic plastic mounts to those high-tech cooling stands that come with dual charging docks for the DualShock 4 controllers and built-in fans. I’m a bit skeptical about whether those tiny fans actually help with temperatures or if they just add more noise. My budget is around $30–$40, and I really need something stable that won't tip over easily. Does anyone have hands-on experience with brands like OIVO or Kootek, or should I just stick with the official Sony vertical stand for the best build quality?

What specific vertical cooling stand would you recommend for keeping a PS4 Pro stable and cool without it sounding like a jet engine?

ok so, basically, the loud fan noise on the PS4 Pro is usually because of how the intake vents are positioned on the sides! i mean, if you want to switch to vertical, you gotta be careful because those cheap stands actually block the airflow more than they help.

In my experience, I would suggest the OIVO PS4 Pro Vertical Stand with Cooling Fan and Dual Controller Charging Station. Honestly, it's amazing because it uses high-speed centrifugal fans that actually move air instead of just spinning for show! The build quality is realy solid too, so it wont tip over.

Quick tip: make sure you clean the side vents with compressed air before mounting it. even the best stand cant fix a dust-choked heatsink! but yeah, the OIVO is definitely the way to go for under $40. peace

I went through this last year. Honestly, I spent forever researching cuz my Pro was literally screaming during God of War. I tried a few of those cheap stands with the tiny fans, but basically, those fans move so little air they don't do much for the internal heat. It's more about how the console pulls air from the sides... if you block those intakes, it's game over. I eventually grabbed the OIVO PS4 Pro Vertical Stand with Cooling Fan and Dual Controller Charger because it felt sturdier than the others. Even tho the fans are kinda loud on the high setting, the base is super heavy so it won't tip over, which was my biggest fear. I also looked into the Kootek Vertical Stand with Cooling Fan for PS4 Pro since it has more slots, but I found the build quality on the OIVO felt a bit more premium for the price point. Just sharing my experience: horizontal is still technically better for airflow, but if you gotta go vertical, prioritize a wide base so ur console stays safe, you know?

sooo i totally agree with the others that those cheap fans are kinda useless lol. i tried a $15 knockoff once and it was basically a paperweight... anyway, i had a moment to think about this more and you might find this useful:

1. Check out iFixit - they have literal step-by-step guides on cleaning the heat sink and replacing thermal paste if it's still loud
2. Look at OIVO for just the stand part - their build quality is decent for the price without it being a jet engine

honestly, keeping it dust-free matters way more than any fan!

Quick reply while I have a sec! Before I can give some better advice, is ur media console open on the sides or is it one of those enclosed cabinets? I think that might change how effective any of these stands actually are for ur setup. Im still pretty new to the PS4 hardware scene, but I've been doing some market research since I need a stand too. Honestly, it seems like a lot of these brands on Amazon are just rebranding the same generic factory designs. IIRC, someone told me that the build quality varies wildly even if they look identical in the photos. Here is what I have noticed while looking around:

  • The official Sony stand is way more expensive and basic, but it doesnt have those cheap motors that might burn out.
  • A lot of the 30 or 40 dollar third-party stands seem to cram in way too many features like disc holders and extra hubs which might actually make it less stable in the long run.
  • Some of the less famous brands might just be clones of the bigger ones, so it is hard to tell who actually designed the airflow. Not 100 percent sure if those extra features are worth the risk of the stand being flimsy, but I'm curious what ur space looks like before I look into it more!
