So I finally decided I'm gonna pull the trigger on the 9850X3D as soon as it hits the shelves next month. Building this mostly for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 because my current setup is basically a slide show at this point lol. I'm based in the US so I'm lucky enough to be near a Microcenter, but I'm still trying to figure out the motherboard situation. I've got about $300-350 set aside just for the board, but I'm seeing so much conflicting info online.

I spent last night reading up on some stuff and everyone keeps saying the ASRock B650E Taichi is the goat because of the crazy VRMs and the build quality, but then I see other guys on Reddit saying you absolutely need an X870E for the 9000 series chips to get the full bandwidth and better memory support. I dont really care about having five different NVMe slots, I just want the CPU to boost properly without the board getting too hot or throttling things. I also do a bit of 4K video editing on the side so I need something stable that wont crash when I'm rendering for three hours straight.

Is the whole PCIe 5.0 thing actually worth the premium right now? Like if I go with a solid B650 board am I gonna regret it in two years when I get a new GPU? I'm also kinda worried about bios updates because I've heard some AM5 boards take forever to post and I really dont want to be sitting there for 2 minutes every time I boot up my PC. Some people say ASUS has fixed their issues but others are still swearing off them after that whole voltage scandal thing from last year. It is honestly making my head spin trying to pick one.

What boards are you guys actually looking at for these new X3D chips specifically? Should I just stick with a high-end B650E or is it worth stretching the budget for the newer 800 series chipsets just to be safe for the long run...

Man I am so hyped for the 50 series launch like you wouldnt believe. Ive been saving up my paychecks from my part-time job here in Manchester for like six months now just to finally move on from my crusty old GTX 1650. Im pretty set on getting the RTX 5060 when it drops because I mostly play at 1080p anyway and I dont really need 4k or anything crazy. My monitor is 165Hz so I really want to actually hit those high frames for once.

So I was thinking about what CPU to pair it with and my logic was originally just to grab a Ryzen 5 7600 because its cheap and on the AM5 platform which is great for future upgrades. But then I started reading some threads and people are saying that since the 50 series might have some wild frame gen tech it might actually put more load on the CPU than we think? Or maybe the 1080p resolution makes the bottleneck way worse because the GPU is so fast it just waits on the processor. I saw a few guys saying the i5-13600K is better for mid-range builds but then I saw all that stuff about the Intel stability issues lately and now Im kinda scared to go that route even though the performance looks solid.

I found one video saying that even for a 60-class card you should go for a 7800X3D if youre at 1080p to avoid any stutters but thats like way out of my budget. Im trying to keep the CPU under 250 or 300 pounds tops because I still need to buy DDR5 ram and a new motherboard. If I go with the 7600 will I be leaving a ton of performance on the table? Or should I wait and see if there is a 9600X or something that fits better? Its just confusing because some people say the 5060 wont be that much faster than a 4060 Ti but others are saying the architecture jump is huge. I just want something that wont choke when I try to run Cyberpunk with some of those fancy ray tracing features... what do you guys think is the actual sweet spot for this combo?

I am freaking out a bit because I finally saved up for my dream build with the new 9850X3D but the whole RAM situation is stressing me out. I need to get this ordered by Friday so it arrives for my time off work next week. I keep reading conflicting stuff about what the sweet spot is for the 9000 series. My logic was that faster is better but then people say the infinity fabric cant handle it and you lose performance if its not 1:1 or whatever.

I am torn between these three kits right now:

G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 6400MT/s CL32 (kinda expensive but looks fast)

Corsair Vengeance 6000MT/s CL30 (everyone says this is safer for stability?)

TeamGroup T-Force Delta 6200MT/s CL28 (saw a random benchmark saying low latency is king for X3D chips)

My budget is around $180 for the 32GB kit but I could stretch to $220 if it actually makes a difference in Tarkov or my 4k video renders. The big problem is I am using a massive NH-D15 air cooler so height is a huge issue and I dont want to buy something that hits the fans and then I have to return it and delay the whole build. Is it better to just stick with the 6000 CL30 because its guaranteed to work or is the 9850X3D actually better with 6400 now? I just dont want to deal with blue screens while I am trying to finish this freelance project...

Im mostly gonna be playing heavy sims like Tarkov and doing some 4k video editing on the side so I want this thing to be snappy. Ive been looking at some RAM kits and honestly Im a bit lost on what speed to actually buy. I read on a few forums that 6000MHz CL30 is still the gold standard for stability on the AM5 platform but then I see other tech reviewers claiming that the newer memory controllers on these chips can easily hit 6400MHz or even 8000MHz in some cases with the new gear ratios.

My budget for the RAM is about 180 bucks and I really dont want to spend forever tweaking timings in the BIOS if I can help it. Does the massive L3 cache on the 9850X3D make the actual RAM speed less of a bottleneck anyway? I dont want to overspend on a 6400 kit if its just gonna cause stability issues or if the performance gains are basically invisible for gaming. What speed and latency are you guys actually seeing the best results with for these new X3D chips?
