Best value CPU to pair with an RTX 5070?

Trying to plan out this build for next month and I'm honestly so stressed about the CPU choice for the 5070. I'm strictly on a $1500 budget for the whole tower so every dollar counts. My logic was that the 7800X3D is the obvious pick for gaming but its price just keeps going up and I'm worried it'll eat my budget for a good PSU and case.

I'm stuck between these:

  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • Ryzen 5 7600

I'll be playing at 1440p mostly and I just dont want to stutter in heavy games. Is the extra $150 for the X3D actually worth it or am I just overthinking the bottleneck...

Honestly, if youre strictly on a 1500 budget, dont kill yourself trying to fit that X3D in there. In my experience, once you step up to 1440p, the load shifts way more to the GPU anyway. Ive tried many setups over the years where I overspent on the CPU and ended up with a loud case or a sketchy power supply... not worth the trade-off tbh. Heres my take:

To add to the point above: if youre really trying to stretch that 1500 budget, dont ignore the Intel Core i5-13600KF 14-Core 5.1GHz. In my experience, it handles 1440p gaming flawlessly and the extra cores really help with those 1% low stutters youre worried about.

  • More cores help with background tasks
  • Platform is very mature and stable
  • Fits the mid-range budget perfectly Basically, youre way better off saving that $150 to ensure you get a high-quality 5070 model and a decent motherboard.

Saw this earlier and yeah, really agree with those points. Its unfortunate the 7800X3D is so overpriced right now... really sours the value for a 5070 build. Since you want to avoid stutters without breaking the bank, check these specs out:
