I'm currently planning a new build and I've pretty much settled on the i5-13600K because of its great value. However, I’m planning to pair it with a high-end card like the RX 7900 XTX for 1440p high-refresh gaming. I’ve been seeing some conflicting benchmarks online and I'm a bit worried that I might be leaving performance on the table by not going for an i7 or i9. Specifically, I'm concerned about CPU-intensive titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Starfield. Does the 13600K have enough juice to keep up with AMD's top-tier silicon without causing stutters? If you're running a similar setup, are you seeing any significant hardware limitations or bottlenecking?

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year and was honestly sooo worried about the same thing. I eventually went with the Intel Core i5-13600K and paired it with the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB for my 1440p setup.
1. i5-13600K vs i7-13700K: Honestly, I havent noticed any stutters in Cyberpunk 2077.
2. Technical performance: Basically, my CPU usage stays pretty chill while the GPU is MAXED out.
I'm super happy with it tbh, works well and I dont feel like I'm missing out on i9 frames. gl!

Honestly, I've been building rigs for over 15 years and I recently went through this exact same dilemma. I used to think you needed the top-tier chip to avoid leaving frames on the table, but I had some issues with heat and stability on the higher-end stuff lately that were just not as good as expected.
In my experience, that i5 is actually a beast and you won't see a massive bottleneck at 1440p. I've run similar high-end setups and:
* Most games are still GPU-bound at that resolution.
* The 1% lows are usually pretty stable on this architecture.
* Stutters usually come from bad drivers, not this CPU.
Unfortunately, Starfield is just poorly optimized in general, so dont expect miracles there. But yeah, if you want my veteran advice: just get any high-end board from Intel and you'll be set. You really don't need the i9 tax for gaming nowadays lol. gl!

Honestly, sticking with the Intel Core i5-13600K is the smart move for a 1440p rig. You're basically paying a massive premium for an i7 or i9 just for a few extra E-cores that won't help your gaming fps. In my experience, pairing it with the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB is a killer value combo. Unless you're trying to push 300+ fps in Starfield on low settings, you aren't gonna hit a real bottleneck. Save that extra $150 for a better SSD or just keep it in ur pocket lol. 👍

For your situation, sticking with the Intel Core i5-13600K is actually the safest bet for a stable build. I've spent years testing these chips, and honestly, the i5 runs way cooler than an i7 or i9, which means less risk of thermal throttling or stability issues during long sessions in something like Starfield. Plus, you'll be safer from the voltage concerns seen on higher-end 13th/14th gen chips lately. Pair it with a solid AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB and you're good for 1440p gaming without any real stutters. 👍
