I'm finally pulling the trigger on my dream build around the new 9850X3D and I'm super hyped to see what this thing can actually do in 4k! Ive been looking at two specific kits but I'm torn. First choice is the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 6400MT/s CL32 but then I saw the Corsair Vengeance 6000MT/s CL30 kit and now I'm second guessing everything. I've got about $160 left in the budget for memory and I'm worried about the Z5 height since I'm using a massive air cooler in a smallish case. Is the faster speed on the G.Skill actually gonna matter for the X3D or should I just stick with the lower latency Corsair ones for stability? buying everything next Tuesday so I gotta decide fast...
Ngl, I spent weeks tuning my last setup and found that Ryzen just loves that 6000 sweet spot for the 1:1 FCLK ratio! For your air cooler, height is a total dealbreaker anyway.
In my experience building AM5 rigs, keeping that 1:1 FCLK ratio is way more important than raw frequency for stability. Since you're worried about clearance, check out TeamGroup T-Create Expert DDR5 6000MT/s CL30. Its super low profile and fits under basically any air cooler. Id look at Buildzoids videos if you want the deep dive on sub-timings. Since you're at 4K, the GPU is the bottleneck anyway so dont stress too much.

Omg I am literally dealing with this exact same headache right now!! It is so frustrating because I just want my dream build to actually work without falling apart! These DDR5 prices are honestly such a scam and it makes me so mad. Why are these heatspreaders so tall for no reason?? It feels like companies are just trying to make things look cool while totally ignoring people who use actual air coolers. I'm so scared of buying something that wont fit and then having to deal with the nightmare of returns. Its just ridiculous how much stress goes into choosing RAM lately... honestly its enough to make you want to give up on the whole thing! I really hope we both figure it out because spending this much money for zero peace of mind is just the worst!
