What is the best CPU to pair with an RTX 5090?

So I'm finally planning my dream build for when the 5090 drops early next year and I'm stuck on the processor. I've got about $4k set aside for the tower here in Cali. I was looking at the 7800X3D since everyone says it's the gaming king but then I saw posts saying the new Ryzen 9000 series might handle the 5090's throughput better.

My logic was that at 4k the CPU matters less but then I read that the 5090 is such a massive jump it'll actually bottleneck even the fastest current chips. Is it worth waiting for the 9800X3D or should I just grab what is out now? I dont want to leave performance on the table...

Quickly jumping in before you commit. Are you planning on strictly gaming or doing heavy productivity work too? That changes how you should allocate that 4k...

In my experience, building around a top-tier flagship like the 5090 requires more patience than most people have. Ive tried many high-end rigs over the years and jumping the gun usually leads to bottlenecking regret once the next architectural shift hits. Even at 4k, that card is gonna be pushing frames so fast that current chips will definitely struggle to keep up...

Regarding what #1 said about "In my experience, building around a top-tier flagship..." - he is spot on! I love a 5090 build but you gotta be safe. The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core 32-Thread AM5 is an amazing choice for pure power. It's gonna be so stable! Definitely grab a Seasonic Vertex GX-1200 1200W 80+ Gold too. You need that headroom for a beastly card!
