What is the best high-end CPU to pair with an RTX 5090?

I'm planning a beastly build around the RTX 5090 and want to avoid any bottlenecks while gaming at 4K. I'm torn between the Ryzen 9800X3D and the upcoming Intel Ultra series. Since I'm aiming for maximum frame rates on a high-refresh monitor, which high-end CPU will actually keep up with this monster GPU without holding it back?

Oh man, I remember stressing over this with my last build... honestly, I'd suggest the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Processor. The 3D V-Cache is basically magic for frame rates. Intel's upcoming chips might be great, but be careful cuz new platforms are always buggy and expensive!! I'd stick with what's proven for a monster like the 5090. Just my two cents tho. good luck!!

Seconding the recommendation above. I actually tried to spec out a build like this last week and almost went broke lol. Tbh if ur spending that much on a 5090, you gotta save somewhere. The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Processor is basically the only choice, but dont waste money on an X870 board. A solid MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI Motherboard for $200ish is plenty. At 4K, you're mostly GPU bound anyway, so spending more wont actually get you more frames. Just get some G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM and call it a day!

I would suggest the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Processor. Honestly, I'm pretty cautious about the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Processor launch cuz early BIOS versions are usually buggy and unstable... seen it happen way too often lol. For maximum reliability at 4K, that X3D cache is basically magic. Just make sure to check your power supply rails and VRM specs first!! gl
