What is the best value CPU for an RTX 3060 build today?

I’m finally putting together a mid-range build around an RTX 3060, but I’m struggling to pick the right processor. Since I’m mostly targeting 1080p high-refresh gaming, I want a chip that won't bottleneck the card without overspending on power I won't use. I've been eyeing the Ryzen 5 5600 and the i5-12400F, but with prices shifting, I'm not sure if these are still the best deals. I want to keep the platform costs low while ensuring the build stays relevant for a few years. Between Intel and AMD, which specific CPU currently offers the absolute best 'bang for your buck' to pair with a 3060?

yo! i totally get the struggle... i've been around the pc scene for years but honestly things move so fast it's still confusing sometimes lol. basically, at 1080p, the cpu is doing a ton of work to keep that NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 fed with data. why this matters is cuz if the cpu is too slow, your gpu just sits around waiting... which is highkey annoying for high-refresh gaming.

for your situation, i would suggest the AMD Ryzen 5 5600. i think it's probably the best value right now? i built a budget rig with one recently and it's a beast. the Intel Core i5-12400F is also good, but usually the amd motherboards are cheaper so you save money! just be careful not to get the 5600G version cuz it has less cache for gaming stuff. hope that helps!! peace

Respectfully, I'd consider another option because building on a dead platform like AM4 kinda kills your future upgrade path. Honestly, I've seen so many people regret it lately, so I'd grab the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 since the AM5 socket is gonna stay relevant for years!! It's slightly more cash now but it's literally the ultimate value play for long-term gaming, trust me lol.
