I am freaking out a bit because I finally saved up for my dream build with the new 9850X3D but the whole RAM situation is stressing me out. I need to get this ordered by Friday so it arrives for my time off work next week. I keep reading conflicting stuff about what the sweet spot is for the 9000 series. My logic was that faster is better but then people say the infinity fabric cant handle it and you lose performance if its not 1:1 or whatever.
I am torn between these three kits right now:
- G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 6400MT/s CL32 (kinda expensive but looks fast)
- Corsair Vengeance 6000MT/s CL30 (everyone says this is safer for stability?)
- TeamGroup T-Force Delta 6200MT/s CL28 (saw a random benchmark saying low latency is king for X3D chips)
My budget is around $180 for the 32GB kit but I could stretch to $220 if it actually makes a difference in Tarkov or my 4k video renders. The big problem is I am using a massive NH-D15 air cooler so height is a huge issue and I dont want to buy something that hits the fans and then I have to return it and delay the whole build. Is it better to just stick with the 6000 CL30 because its guaranteed to work or is the 9850X3D actually better with 6400 now? I just dont want to deal with blue screens while I am trying to finish this freelance project...

TL;DR: Stick with 6000 CL30 for stability and fit. Be careful with that NH-D15... it is huge. I suggest Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 32GB because it is low profile and rock solid. The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 6400MT/s CL32 32GB is taller and 6400 can be finicky on Ryzen. Dont risk blue screens during your freelance renders for tiny gains. Stick with the safe bet.

To add to the point above: honestly, sticking with 6000 CL30 is the smartest move because chasing 6400 is just asking for a headache on Ryzen. Just finished a client build with that same NH-D15 and man, it is massive! If you want to avoid any height drama, you gotta look at the G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30-38-38-96. They are super low profile and fit perfectly under the Noctua fans without having to slide the front fan up and mess with the airflow. Been using them for a month now and the performance is amazing! Another sleeper pick is the TeamGroup T-Create Expert 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30. It looks super clean and fits under big air coolers like a dream. Definitely saves you a few bucks too, usually stays well under your $180 budget. No blue screens, just pure speed... love it!
