Which processor recommended for avoiding RTX 5080 bottlenecks?

Hey everyone, I'm starting to plan out my next build for when the RTX 5080 finally drops. I've been saving up for a while now to move away from my aging RTX 3070 setup, but I'm getting a bit anxious about the rest of my components. I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 5800X on an older AM4 board, and while it's still decent for now, I have a strong feeling it is going to be a major bottleneck for a card that powerful.

My main goal is to play at 4K resolution on a 144Hz refresh rate monitor. I really want to be able to max out settings in heavy titles like Cyberpunk 2077 with full path tracing enabled and be fully ready for whatever crazy requirements GTA 6 ends up having. I've been looking at a few different upgrade paths to take:

  • Moving to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D because I hear the V-Cache is unbeatable for gaming.
  • Waiting a bit longer for the full Ryzen 9000 series benchmarks to see the real-world gains.
  • Considering the Intel i9-14900K, though the high power draw and heat levels make me a bit nervous.

I really don't want to spend a fortune on a high-end GPU just to see it sitting at 60 percent usage because my processor can't feed it fast enough. Based on current trends, which processor would you recommend as the most balanced pairing to avoid any performance hitches?

Just grab the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 16-Thread Processor. From my experience, the V-Cache is a total game changer for 4K stability and wont bottleneck that 5080 at all.

Had a moment to think about this more, and honestly, since youre already swapping boards, id wait for the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X 12-Core 24-Thread Processor benchmarks to be safe. If you need something today, the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core Processor is a more reliable bet than the i9 because it wont have the same extreme heat issues while still crushing 4K gaming.

Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
