^ This. Also, be careful with budget drives. NVMe is just the fast slot type, but I learned the hard way after my old drive basically crawled to a stop. Watch specs closely at 55 bucks.

Ugh, literally me right now! Im trying to pick a drive for a secondary build and its exhausting how much research you have to do just to make sure your data is safe. I love a good deal but this market is a nightmare!

  • Companies are basically bait-and-switching controllers constantly
  • Data integrity feels like a total afterthought
  • Tracking firmware stability is a full-time job! Honestly its such a scam these days!

Look for an NVMe drive with TLC flash and high TBW for that budget. Honestly i bought the absolute cheapest drive for my last build and it was a mistake. Once it got full the write speeds dropped to hdd levels because it lacked a dram cache...

  • nvme is faster than sata
  • dram cache prevents slowdowns
  • tlc lasts longer than qlc Saving ten bucks isnt worth the stuttering.
