I just picked up a Legion Tower 5i and love the performance, but my current keyboard feels mushy. I’m looking for a mechanical upgrade that matches the tower's aesthetic. I prefer tactile switches and would love something with RGB that syncs well with Lenovo Vantage. Any specific recommendations under $150 that pair perfectly with this setup?

dude honestly i had issues with the Lenovo Legion K500 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard ($80) feeling too flimsy... compared to that, the Logitech G512 Carbon RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with GX Brown Tactile switches ($100) is wayyy better built, but unfortunately syncing RGB with Vantage is basically impossible. if u want full sync, you gotta stick to the Legion K500 tho. its kinda mid but cheap. gl!

Quick question before I give advice, are you super worried about software conflicts? I've had issues with bloated RGB software crashing my rig before, so I'm always kinda cautious. Honestly, the Legion Tower is a beast, but you gotta be careful with third-party stuff messing with the Vantage sync. Unfortunately, not everything plays nice, which is sooo frustrating when you want that clean look.

I mean, if safety and reliability are your main things, I'd maybe look at these over the ones mentioned earlier:

* Razer BlackWidow V3 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Razer Green Mechanical Switches - It's basically the standard for tactile clicky stuff and usually under $140, but the software is heavy.
* <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k= SteelSeries+Apex+7+TKL+Mechanical+Gaming+Keyboard+with+Brown+Tactile+Switches&linkCode=osi&------123456890?7649-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Brown Tactile Switches - Super solid build, but idk if the OLED screen is too much?

Is the Vantage sync a DEALBREAKER for you, or just a nice-to-have? Some of these might need their own drivers to stay stable...

Just sharing my experience: honestly, I went through this last year after getting my Tower, and ngl sticking with any higher-end Corsair stuff worked well for me... basically just find a tactile one from them, right?

Curious about one thing: do you need a full numpad or is a smaller board fine? Also, is Vantage sync a MUST, or are you open to other software to save cash?

  • same here, and honestly it was kind of a letdown. basically the thread is split between people who want that perfect vantage sync and people who want actually decent hardware. i spent way too much time trying to make my setup look like a cohesive unit, but the integration just isnt as good as expected. my current setup has been a bit of a struggle for the last year. i bought this board thinking it would play nice with the tower, but the lighting would flicker or just reset to default every time i rebooted. i eventually gave up on the software sync and just set everything to a solid color manually... kinda sucks because you pay for these features but they rarely work perfectly together long-term. if i could do it over, id probably prioritize the typing feel over the flashy lights, because at the end of the day, i use it way more than i look at it tho.

@Reply #5 - good point! honestly it seems like the thread is split between people wanting the easy vantage sync and people wanting better hardware from brands like logitech or corsair. it basically comes down to whether you care more about the lighting or the feel. i saw a really good video on youtube about this exact problem a few weeks ago... just search for legion vantage rgb sync guide and it should be the first result. they show exactly which brands actually work with the software. or just hit up the lenovo forums directly, they have a whole section for peripheral compatibility that saves a lot of guesswork. i would just look there before buying anything.
