I've been stuck playing on my ancient laptop for years, and it's finally reached its breaking point. I've managed to save up about $800 for a new gaming desktop, but the more I look at different builds and pre-builts, the more overwhelmed I get. There are so many options out there, and I really want to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck without overspending on things I don't need.
I'm mainly looking to play titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and some Call of Duty at 1080p with decent frame rates. I’m hoping to find something that already includes at least 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, as my current setup barely has space for two games. I'm also debating whether it's better to go with a pre-built for the warranty or try my hand at building one to save a few bucks. My budget is pretty firm because I still need to save up for a decent monitor later this year.
Has anyone found a solid pre-built brand that fits this budget lately, or should I definitely look into picking out individual parts to stay under that $800 mark? I'd love to hear what specs or specific models you all would recommend for a reliable mid-range setup.

Late to the party but I've been doing sooo much research on this lately cuz I'm basically in the same boat!! For your $800 budget, you actually have some pretty sweet options...
- DIY Route: You get way more power if you build it. I suggest the Intel Core i5-12400F and XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 6650 XT. Honestly, this combo shreds 1080p and you can definitely fit Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM and a Crucial P3 1TB NVMe SSD under budget.
- Pre-built Route: Look at the Acer Nitro 50 Gaming Desktop with Intel Core i5 and RTX 3050. It's super convenient and usually leaves you some cash for that monitor!! Building is kinda scary at first but worth it for the performance, though pre-builts are totally chill for the easy warranty. Idk, both are great tbh. Good luck dude!!

- Option A: Building with an AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT 12GB and AMD Ryzen 5 5600. Pros: Max FPS for Cyberpunk. Cons: Takes time.
- Option B: Pre-built like the Skytech Nebula Gaming PC Desktop. Pros: Easy setup. Cons: Usually weaker hardware. Building is the best choice for sure. Im so satisfied with how mine works well!! gl!

In my experience, im super happy I went with a pre-built from a brand like HP or Lenovo. safety first, ya know? I wanted UL certified components and a solid OEM warranty instead of risking a DIY fail.
- stick with major brands for reliable power supplies
- basically any gaming rig from them works well tbh, the peace of mind is worth it. no complaints! do u think the warranty is a big deal?
