im honestly so lost right now because i just got a pc and realized i have no screen for it. i went to look online and saw all these numbers like hz and ms and honestly i have no idea what any of that means lol. i just want something that looks good and isnt gonna break the bank since i only have about $200 left. sorry if this is a dumb question i just have no idea where to start...

  • budget is around $200
  • mostly for work and netflix
  • easy to set up
  • i live in a small apartment so nothing massive

is there a specific one i should buy that just works for everything?

Dell is basically the gold standard for reliability when it comes to work stuff. Since youre in a small place, 24 inches is the sweet spot. I use one and its been solid for years. Take a look at the Dell S2421HN 24 Inch Full HD 1080p Monitor:

  • IPS panel makes Netflix look great
  • Its compact but clear
  • Very easy setup Its a safe bet that just works. Lemme know if you need any more tips!

I actually went through a couple screens before settling on the BenQ GW2480 24 inch IPS 1080p because it felt like the safest pick. It has built-in speakers too, which is huge for a small apartment. Quick tip: always check if it includes an HDMI cable. I had to walk back to the store in the rain because mine didnt... super annoying but the screen itself is solid for work and Netflix.

Building on the earlier suggestion, you might want to consider color accuracy for Netflix. I once bought a screen that made movies look gray, so be careful.

tbh you really need to be careful with the budget screens because the manufacturers often skimp on the internal capacitors and power boards. i learned that lesson the hard way a couple years back when the screen i bought just blacked out right after the warranty expired... turned out the power brick was overheating because the venting was poorly designed. now i always make sure to feel the back of the display after its been running for a few hours to see if its getting too hot. also watch out for dead pixels right out of the box because some brands have really loose quality control on their cheaper lines. my current setup is much more reliable but it took me a while to find something that wouldnt flicker during long work sessions. just make sure to keep your receipt because at that price point, the failure rate is way higher than people realize.
