My old mouse with the wire just stopped clicking today and I am honestly so frustrated because I have a big report due Monday and I am in Chicago for the weekend so I need to go to a store tomorrow to find a new one. I have no idea where to start because there are like a million boxes and I am so confused by the tech stuff. Does every wireless mouse work with every computer? I have an older Dell desktop at home but I might get a new one soon and I dont want to buy something that wont plug in. Im looking to spend maybe 30 dollars max. Sorry if this is a dumb question but which wireless mouse works best with any desktop model? I just need something simple that actually works...
Ive tried many cheap mice over the years and the Logitech M185 Wireless Mouse 1000 DPI is the most reliable. It works on any USB port for under 20 bucks.
^ This. Also, I was in your shoes last year with a deadline and a broken clicker... learned some things the hard way. Since you are going to a store:
Just saw this thread and honestly you dont need to stress too much about the tech side. As long as the mouse has a little USB receiver, it will work on basically any desktop. I have been really happy with the Logitech M325 Wireless Optical Mouse lately... it has this micro-precise scroll wheel thats great for long reports and it fits the hand well without being bulky. No complaints at all after using it for two years on different machines. Another one I have had good luck with is the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 1850. It is super simple and usually even cheaper than the Logitech, maybe like 15 bucks. The Microsoft one is a bit flatter, while the Logitech has more of a curve. Both are totally reliable and simple to use. Just grab one at a CVS or big box store in Chicago and you will be set for Monday.
