I need to buy something by Friday because my current card is bricked and I have a huge league match coming up. I looked at the 4070 Super since it fits my $650 budget but then I read that the 12GB of VRAM is a joke for 1440p and I should get the 7900 GRE instead. But then some people say Nvidia reflex is a must have for shooters like Apex so now Im just stuck. Does the VRAM actually matter if I am playing on low settings for max frames? I can maybe stretch to $800 if it actually makes a difference...

I've been reading some benchmarks saying the 24GB of VRAM is amazing for the price but then I see people on Reddit saying if you're doing serious LLM fine-tuning or heavy computer vision stuff you'll just hit a wall way too fast. I'm starting a big freelance project next month and my budget is strictly $2k for the card since I'm based in NYC and rent is already killing me lol. I really dont want to drop that much cash and realize I actually needed an A6000 or something crazy expensive that I just cant afford right now... is the memory bandwidth really gonna be the thing that kills me??

So Ive been cutting 1080p footage for years on my old build with a GTX 1070 and it was always fine but I just landed this huge freelance gig shooting a wedding in 4K 10-bit and my timeline is absolutely crawling. Its weird because my CPU usage stays pretty low but the playback just stutters like crazy even at 1/4 resolution which is super frustrating when trying to show a client a rough cut.

I tried a few things to fix it:

making proxies which took forever

clearing the media cache

toggling hardware acceleration

But honestly it still feels sluggish so I think its time for new gear. I was looking at the RTX 4070 Ti Super or maybe just a 4080 but I keep hearing mixed things about how much Premiere actually utilizes the VRAM versus the raw clock speed. My budget is around 800 bucks maybe a bit more if it really makes a huge difference for the render times and since I live in a smaller town I have to order everything online so I dont want to deal with returns. Is the extra VRAM on the 16GB cards actually worth the premium for 4K timelines or is it just marketing fluff? Im trying to get this sorted before my next shoot at the end of the month...

So I finally got my hands on a 5090 FE after stalking Best Buy for weeks and man this thing is an absolute brick. Like it actually feels heavier than my cat. Im putting it into a Fractal North build this weekend and I am terrified of it snapping my motherboard in half because the sag is already visible just test fitting it. Its honestly kind of a scary amount of weight for a pcie slot to hold alone.

I am torn between a couple of options right now and really need to pull the trigger tonight so I can finish the build on Saturday. Option A is that Lian Li GB-002 bracket that attaches directly to the motherboard standoffs. I love how stealthy it looks because you basically cant see it through the glass but I am worried it wont actually be strong enough for the 5090 specifically since its so much beefier than the 40 series. Option B is just one of those basic telescoping kickstand poles like the ones from Cooler Master or even a generic one from Amazon. It seems way more secure but I dont know if it will clutter up the bottom of the case or look weird with the wood slats on the North.

My budget is around $40-50 for this part since I already blew my entire savings on the card lol. Is the Lian Li stealth one actually sturdy enough for this monster or should I just get the pole and play it safe?

I have about 1700 saved up and Im stuck on the hardware part. I keep seeing people say get a used 3090 because of the 24gb vram but then other folks swear by the 4080 super since it has better efficiency and speed. Im confused if the vram trade-off is actually worth it for training specifically? I dont want to buy a 16gb card and then realize I cant even fit a decent sized model for fine-tuning. Does the vram capacity always win out over raw speed when youre doing local training runs...

I'm stuck between getting the RTX 4070 Ti Super or just biting the bullet on the 4080 Super. My budget is pretty firm at $1000 and the 4080 is pushing it, but I really need smooth playback in Premiere Pro since I'm working with heavy 10-bit footage. Is the performance jump for the 4080 actually worth the extra $200 for 4k edits or should I just grab the 4070 Ti and call it a day? I gotta make a move on this in the next couple hours...

Sorry if this is a really basic question but I am totally lost with all these numbers and letters lol. I want to build a specialized bot for my plant nursery here in Seattle to help customers with care instructions and I have about 1800 to 2000 dollars saved up for a new computer this month. I saw the 4090 in a shop and it looks huge but then I read online that the A100 has way more memory or something? I dont really get what VRAM is or why it matters so much for the training part. If I buy the 4090 will it just break if I try to run a big model on it? Or is the A100 only for like giant companies because it seems really expensive to rent hourly. I just want something that wont take like a week to learn my data sets. My friend said I might need two cards but I definitely cant afford that right now. Just trying to figure out the smartest way to spend my money before I go and buy the wrong thing...

My budget is tight around $350 max. I spent all night looking at benchmarks and I'm honestly just more confused now. Some people on reddit say the RTX 3060 12GB is the way to go because of the VRAM but then others say the 4060 is better because its newer and faster even though it only has 8GB. Is the extra 4GB really that big of a deal if I'm doing mostly small-scale training? I dont want to buy something and then have it crash because of OOM errors immediately. What would you guys pick if you only had a few hundred bucks to spend right now?
