What is the best budget GPU I can get for machine learning that actually works for a beginner? I'm honestly so frustrated because I have no idea what VRAM even means and I'm totally lost.
I have $300 max and need something for my class project by next week. Sorry if this is stupid...
> I have $300 max and need something for my class project by next week. Unfortunately, most cards at this price point are quite disappointing for machine learning. I had issues with 8GB cards that were not as good as expected when handling larger datasets. Honestly, you should look for the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ventus 2X 12GB GDDR6. The 12GB of VRAM is basically essential for reliability. Its the only card under $300 that wont frustrate you during your project.
Regarding that $300 max budget... just grab a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB. In my experience, its the safest bet for beginners since it wont crash on your project.
TL;DR: NVIDIA is the industry standard for ML. The 3060 12GB is the optimal budget card. Like someone mentioned, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 is the only sensible choice under $300. AMD cards lack the native CUDA support beginners need for a quick turnaround. The 12GB VRAM is crucial for training local models without constant memory errors. Its basically the most efficient path for your deadline.
