I’m finally looking to jump into Night City, but my current card is struggling. I’m on a tight budget and aiming for smooth 1080p gameplay, ideally on medium or high settings. I've been looking at the RTX 3060 or RX 6600, but I’m curious if there’s a better value pick right now. Any recommendations for a solid budget card that handles the 2.1 update well?

yo, I went through this last year when the Phantom Liberty hype was hitting hard. honestly i was so stressed about my old rig catching fire lol. I was basically on the same hunt for that 1080p sweet spot without breaking the bank.

I ended up going a slightly different route than the 3060 mentioned above. I managed to snag a Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT 8GB GDDR6 on sale for like $240 and honestly? it’s been a total champ for Night City.

Just sharing my experience with it:

- it literally handles the 2.1 update like a dream on High settings. I get around 70-80 FPS pretty consistently, though it drops a bit in crowded areas like Dogtown.
- I actually tried the MSI Gaming Radeon RX 6600 8GB GDDR6 first cuz it was only $190, but I felt like the extra $50 for the 6650 XT was sooo worth it for the extra stability.
- if you can find a deal on the ASRock Challenger Intel Arc A750 8GB GDDR6, I've heard those are crazy cheap now (like $210ish?), but I was too scared of driver issues back then... i think they're better now maybe?

Anyway, i'm super satisfied with the 6650 XT. It works well and I have zero complaints about how Cyberpunk looks on it. definitely check the sales cuz prices are everywhere right now. good luck getting into the game, it's a wild ride!! 👍

Respectfully, I'd consider another option because those mid-range cards are still surprisingly pricey if you're on a STRICT budget. I mean, the 3060 is okay, but honestly, if you wanna save some serious cash while still hitting those 1080p high settings, you should look at the XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6650 XT 8GB GDDR6. I've been building rigs for over a decade and found that the 6650 XT usually outperforms the standard 6600 and the 3060 in raw rasterization for less money. You can usually find it for around $230-$250 these days... it works great for Cyberpunk's 2.1 update as long as you arent obsessed with ray tracing. Just use FSR 3 if it gets choppy in Dogtown, tho it should stay smooth on its own!

Honestly, if youre looking at keeping this card for more than a couple years, I would just stick with NVIDIA. Ive had cards from various brands over the years and whenever I go with the green team, I just deal with way fewer headaches over the long haul. Cyberpunk is basically built around their specific tech anyway so it feels like the safer bet for staying stable.

  • better driver stability for those random game patches
  • higher resale value when you finally decide to upgrade
  • less time spent fiddling with settings just to get things stable Not 100% sure on the exact price points today because they change so fast, but you gotta think about the long-term support. Just my two cents from someone who hates troubleshooting on weekends. Better to have something reliable that just works.

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, looking at the market right now, the RTX cards are usually the safest bet for Cyberpunk because DLSS is *huge* for keeping those frame rates stable. Just a warning though, don't get tempted by older 8GB cards if you plan on modding later, cuz the VRAM usage in Night City gets wild pretty fast lol.

In my experience, you should highkey grab the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC Edition 12GB GDDR6 over the AMD card. While the PowerColor Fighter AMD Radeon RX 6600 8GB GDDR6 is cheaper, DLSS is basically a MUST for Cyberpunk 2.1 to keep those frames stable on high settings. Honestly, the 12GB VRAM on the 3060 is just safer for the newer updates too. I mean, it's SO much smoother with frame reconstruction... gl!
