My old card basically died this morning while I was halfway through a massive 4k project and now I'm panicking big time because the client needs the final cut by Friday. I'm stuck between getting the RTX 4070 Ti Super or just biting the bullet on the 4080 Super. My budget is pretty firm at $1000 and the 4080 is pushing it, but I really need smooth playback in Premiere Pro since I'm working with heavy 10-bit footage. Is the performance jump for the 4080 actually worth the extra $200 for 4k edits or should I just grab the 4070 Ti and call it a day? I gotta make a move on this in the next couple hours...

tbh if you can stretch that budget just a tiny bit, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB GDDR6X is a total game changer! I love it because those 10240 CUDA cores make such a massive difference compared to the 8448 on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB. When you are layering heavy Lumetri color grades or doing noise reduction, you really feel that extra horsepower. The higher memory clock on the 4080 Super gives you more bandwidth, and Premiere Pro thrives on that when scrubbing 10-bit footage. Its amazing how much smoother the timeline feels! Plus, you get those dual AV1 encoders which are fantastic for knocking out exports way faster before your Friday deadline. Seriously, dont settle if you can grab the big boy. Youll thank yourself when you hit that export button... gl with the project!

@Reply #2 - good point! I love the ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB for stability.

  • Super quiet!
  • Fantastic reliability! Its built for pros, so dont worry about crashes!

ngl that panic is the worst feeling ever... I once had a card fry during a wedding edit. In my experience, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB GDDR6X is the way to go for zero stuttering with 10-bit files.

  • The extra CUDA cores really help when youre layering effects.
  • Get the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB GDDR6X if you're on a budget, but the 4080 is smoother.

Like someone mentioned, that panic when hardware just dies is the worst. I went through the same thing last month on a huge project. My whole setup just went dark... turned out I was totally neglecting my power supply limits and heat. It really taught me to prioritize reliability over raw speed. Anyway, rooting for you to finish that edit on time!
