I'm finally upgrading my old rig and have a strict $1500 budget. I'm looking for something with a solid RTX 40-series GPU and a high refresh rate screen for FPS games. Since cooling is a big concern for me, which specific model currently offers the best thermal performance without sacrificing too much power?

Late to the party but I went through this last year! Honestly, I was sooo stressed about my laptop melting while playing FPS games. I'm kinda a beginner with all the tech specs, but I did a deep dive into cooling systems cuz I didnt wanna waste my $1500. I basically learned that tri-fan setups are the way to go and ended up with the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023) Gaming Laptop, 16” 16:10 FHD 165Hz, GeForce RTX 4060, Intel Core i7-13650HX, 16GB DDR5, 512GB PCIe SSD and it's been AMAZING!! It has an extra fan and full-surround vents that literally keeps things so chilly - it's fantastic for the price. I know the Legion was mentioned already, but this ASUS felt like a great alternative for the same budget. Just sharing my journey tho!! peace

So basically the consensus is that the Legion mentioned earlier is the king of cooling if you can swing the price, while the Nitro is the ultimate budget pick. tbh, i get the stress about heat... I was super worried about my last rig melting too. If your looking for another solid option that wont break the bank, maybe look at the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 (2023) RTX 4060 16GB RAM 1TB SSD for around $1,100. It's built like a tank and I'm really satisfied with how it handles FPS games without getting too loud. Just a few things to keep in mind for safety:
1. Watch the TGP ratings... higher power means more heat, so dont push it to the max unless you really need the frames.
2. Honestly, it works well to pair any laptop with a IETS GT500 Powerful Turbo Fan Laptop Cooling Pad—it literally dropped my temps by 10 degrees.
3. Always check the warranty before opening it up to repaste, better safe than sorry! good luck with the upgrade! 👍

In my experience, Lenovo Legion 5i Pro Gen 8 RTX 4060 512GB for $1350 is better than Acer Nitro 5 15.6" RTX 4060 512GB ($1000). runs wayyy cooler in my tests tho. gl!
