I'm finally looking to upgrade from 1080p to 1440p for better clarity in Valorant and Apex. I’m really torn between the motion smoothness of OLED and the reliability of fast IPS panels. Does anyone have a favorite that handles motion blur exceptionally well? What’s currently considered the absolute goat for competitive 1440p 240Hz gaming?

yo, before I give advice, curious about one thing: how many hours a day are u actually gaming? honestly, OLED like the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is literally the goat for motion, but if u leave static HUDs on for 8+ hours, burn-in is a real risk. IPS like the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQMR is basically bulletproof but u lose those deep blacks. also do u use it for work? cuz text fringing can be weird haha

Watch out for aggressive overdrive. I faced this last year:
- Inverse ghosting
- Muddy visuals
It literally ruined my Valorant flicks so watch the tech specs lol.

Ok so I spent a long time researching this. I ended up choosing a fast IPS model because I was worried about the reliability of those more expensive screens. For me, the extra cost didn't seem worth the risk of burn-in. My current display works great for FPS games and was way cheaper. Honestly, its a safer bet.
TL;DR: IPS is more reliable and cost-effective long-term.

- In my experience, I *love* the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM for insane response times but if ur scared of burn-in then definitely grab the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQMR instead, it's AMAZING!!
