What is the best 4K monitor for a PS5 that stays under $500 and actually works? I am honestly so fed up with this cheap TV I have, the input lag is just unbearable and I swear I can see the pixels dragging every time I turn the camera in-game.

I need something with decent HDR because everything right now looks like gray mush and its driving me crazy. My budget is firm at $500 max and I'm looking to buy something this week from a place like Best Buy.

  • 4K resolution
  • HDMI 2.1 if possible for 120Hz
  • Good response time

Is there anything out there that doesnt suck or am I just stuck with garbage quality...

Just saw this, but finding actual HDR under $500 is basically a pipe dream, unfortunately. I tested the Samsung Odyssey G7 S28AG70 28 inch 4K 144Hz and while it hits that 120Hz mark via HDMI 2.1, the edge-lit dimming had issues with blooming that ruined dark scenes for me. Budget IPS panels just lack the contrast ratios for real HDR. Itll fix your input lag, but the gray mush stays.

> I am honestly so fed up with this cheap TV I have, the input lag is just unbearable To add to the point above: having swapped out dozens of displays over the years for my own setups and for friends, that input lag you are feeling is likely a combination of a slow processor in the TV and poor pixel response times. It really does kill the experience... especially in fast-paced games. Looking at what the others have suggested, we have basically covered the big three for under $500. The M28U and Odyssey G7 are decent enough, but in my experience, if you want something that feels a bit more reliable long-term, you should look at the LG 27GR93U-B 27 inch UltraGear 4K 144Hz. It has a proper HDMI 2.1 implementation for your PS5 and the motion clarity is honestly top-tier for this price bracket. One thing tho... at the sub-$500 mark, you have to be careful about quality control. Ive seen too many people get stuck with dead pixels because they didnt check the panel immediately. Since you mentioned Best Buy, my veteran tip is to check their Open Box section. You can often snag a higher-end Sony INZONE M9 27 inch 4K 144Hz for under $500 if you get lucky with a return. It has much better dimming zones than the others mentioned here. Just keep a few things in mind:

  • Always test for backlight bleed in a dark room on the first day.
  • Stick to HDMI 2.1 for that sweet 120Hz support.
  • Dont expect miracles with HDR on these edge-lit panels, its mostly marketing fluff at this price point.

ngl, finding real HDR at this price is tough since most budget screens lack local dimming. But dont worry! You can still get incredible 120Hz performance.

You can absolutely find something amazing for that price! I went through three different screens before finding the one I use now, and the jump from a budget TV was life-changing. Everything just felt so much more responsive and crisp instantly! I remember firing up a racing game and finally being able to hit the apex because the lag was gone. Its totally worth the upgrade!
