I’m finally looking to upgrade from my old 1080p setup to something crisper, but I don't want to sacrifice that 240Hz smoothness for games like Valorant and Apex. I've been looking at 1440p options, but I'm really torn between the instant response times of the new OLED panels and the reliability of high-end IPS screens. Motion clarity is my top priority—I can't stand ghosting when flicking. I’ve been researching models with solid ELMB or DyAc-like tech, but the options are honestly a bit overwhelming. I want to make sure I’m getting the best input lag performance for my budget. Out of the current 27-inch 1440p 240Hz models, which one genuinely offers the best competitive edge for serious FPS play?

Ok so, i've been on these forums for years, though i'm still learning about the newest OLED tech. For your situation, I would suggest:

1. ASUS ROG Swift 27” 1440P OLED Gaming Monitor PG27AQDM: Instant response times and zero ghosting, but you gotta be careful with burn-in.
2. ASUS ROG Strix 27” 1440P 300Hz Gaming Monitor XG27AQMR: Super reliable IPS. The ELMB Sync is realy good for motion clarity.

I guess OLED wins for speed tho? gl!

I would suggest looking at value options, as you don't always need to drop $1k for a competitive edge. After years of testing panels, I've found these to be the best value picks for low input lag:

* HP Omen 27qs 27-inch QHD 240Hz Gaming Monitor
* MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27-inch 240Hz Gaming Monitor

Be careful with the OLED tho, burn-in is still a thing lol!! These really offer the best bang-for-buck imo.

1. ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQMR 27” 1440P 300Hz Gaming Monitor

Unfortunately, after years of playing, i’ve had bad issues with oled burn-in, so i’d suggest this safer ips. it’s more reliable long-term, i think?
