Finally moving from IPS to OLED for my Series X but honestly I am terrified of burn-in with the HUDs in Halo. I need something that handles 4K 120Hz properly without those weird flickering issues.

  • Budget is $900
  • HDMI 2.1 is a must
  • Under 32 inches

What should I even look at...

In my experience, 4K OLEDs under 32 inches dont really exist yet.

  • MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED 32-inch 4K: Best 4K value.
  • LG 27GS95QE 27-inch OLED: Good 1440p alternative.

  • Alienware AW3225QF 32-inch 4K QD-OLED is the best 4K choice for $899.
  • 4K OLED doesnt exist under 32 inches yet.
  • Im satisfied with the performance.

I spent a long time researching the burn-in thing before I finally upgraded. I play a ton of Halo and the HUD is definitely a concern, but the newer panels have stuff like pixel shift and logo luminance adjustment that helps a lot. Honestly i havent had any issues after a year of heavy use. If you want 4K under 32 inches, you are basically looking for a unicorn right now. Most of the 4K OLEDs start at 32, like the Alienware AW3225QF 32-inch 4K QD-OLED which i use. It hits that $900 price point often and the HDMI 2.1 implementation is solid for Series X. It has a slight curve which some people hate but i think it helps with the immersion. If you are dead set on a smaller screen, you might have to drop to 1440p to stay in the OLED family. The LG 27GR95QE-B 27-inch Ultragear OLED is a decent alternative to the newer GS model and handles 120Hz perfectly. About the flickering... it usually happens when VRR is on in dark scenes. I noticed it mostly in loading screens, but in-game it is basically unnoticeable. Just make sure you use a high-quality certified cable and keep the firmware updated. The tech is good, it just takes some tweaking to get it perfect for console play.

@Reply #4 - good point! If you're that worried about the HUD, you might want to consider just going with LG OLED. I've found their burn-in protection is usually the most refined since they've been at it the longest. Be careful with some other brands tho... they can be sketchy with heat management. Just get any high-end display from them or Alienware and you'll be totally set for your Xbox.

Unfortunately, finding a 4K OLED smaller than 32 inches is basically impossible right now. It sucks because 27 inches is the sweet spot for many setups. If you're really scared of burn-in with those Halo HUDs, you gotta look at stuff with heavy-duty cooling.

  • ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM 27-inch 1440p has a custom heatsink for safety, but its not 4K.
  • LG 27GS95QE 27-inch Ultragear OLED 240Hz is great but again, only 1440p. Honestly, it feels like we're stuck choosing between resolution or size right now... kinda frustrating.
