Been building rigs since the 970 days but these new panel specs are wild. Getting a 5070 Ti next month and finally ditching my old 1080p slab. Got 600 bucks for the display but cant decide if OLED is worth the burn-in risk over IPS. Which 1440p monitor is actually gonna handle that cards frame rates properly?

To add to the point above: I spent way too many hours researching OLED before deciding it just wasnt worth the anxiety. My rig gets used for work too, so having the taskbar sit there for 8 hours a day is a death sentence for those panels. After switching to a high-end IPS, I honestly couldnt be more satisfied with the trade-off. You lose those perfect blacks but you gain total peace of mind. The reliability of my current fast IPS panel has been rock solid. No weird flickering or dimming issues to worry about ever. It is just a more conservative and safer way to spend 600 bucks.

  • Motion clarity on modern Fast IPS panels is basically indistinguishable from OLED for most gamers.
  • Zero risk of burn-in means the monitor will actually last you 5 or 10 years.
  • Much better text clarity for reading and browsing compared to the subpixel layouts on many OLEDs. For a 5070 Ti, you really want something that can actually push those frames. Look into the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQMR 27 Inch 1440p 300Hz Fast IPS if you want to max out your budget, or the Gigabyte M27Q X 27 Inch 1440p 240Hz KVM IPS if you want to save some cash for games. Both are incredible displays that wont give you any headaches down the road. Honestly, being able to leave my screen on and walk away without panicking is worth more to me than slightly deeper blacks. It just works well and stays consistent.

To add to the point above: I unfortunately had issues with panel degradation on a pricey screen. Wasnt as good as expected... sticking with Gigabyte M27Q 27 Inch 170Hz 1440p is safer and cheaper.

Tldr: stick to high-end IPS. Over the years I have seen too many OLED horror stories. Not sure but I think that card will easily max out a 240Hz panel anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking

ngl just saw this thread and you really gotta be careful when choosing between the big brands since their qc can be all over the place. honestly you should hit up youtube and search for something like 1440p 240hz monitor buyer guide. there was this one really good video i saw a while back that breaks down how companies like dell or msi compare in terms of motion blur and color accuracy. reddit also has a huge spreadsheet if you search the monitor subs... might want to consider looking that up first so you dont get burned. some of those brands have way better warranties than others so make sure to check that specifically. id hate for you to drop 600 bucks and end up with a lemon lol.
