Hey everyone! I’m finally starting to piece together a new build centered around the Radeon RX 9060 XT, but I’m feeling a bit stuck on the motherboard choice. Since this is a newer generation card, I want to make sure I’m picking a board that won’t bottleneck the performance or limit the features of the RDNA architecture.
I’m looking for something reliable that supports PCIe 5.0 to stay future-proof, as I plan on keeping this rig for at least 4-5 years. My main concern is finding a balance between price and power delivery; I don't want to overspend on an enthusiast-grade board if a solid B-series chipset can handle it, but I do need strong VRMs because I’ll likely upgrade my CPU down the road. Also, having at least three M.2 slots for my SSDs is a must for my photo editing workflow. I've been eyeing some of the latest Gigabyte and ASRock models, but the specs are starting to blur together.
For those of you who have already benchmarked the RX 9060 XT or have done deep dives into the latest chipsets, which specific motherboard would you recommend for the best stability and value?

Sooo i went through this last year and was terrified of frying components. Honestly, the ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WIFI feels like a TANK for safety and handles those M.2 slots perfectly!!

Seconding the recommendation above! Basically, lane sharing is a huge trap on mid-range boards. I mean, if you want full speed for your Radeon RX 9060 XT and three SSDs, check out the Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE. It handles PCIe 5.0 for the GPU and has decent VRMs for future upgrades, honestly. Just double-check the manual because some slots might drop to x8 if you populate every M.2. Plus, it looks sick! gl

In my experience, i went with a B-series board hoping for value, but honestly? I kinda regretted not double-checking the lane sharing. When I added my third M.2, it actually slowed down my GPU slot... so annoying!! If you're building for a 9060 XT, definitely prioritize a board with dedicated PCIe 5.0 lanes that dont throttle when all slots are full. Learned that one the hard way lol.

For your situation, I would suggest looking at the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi or the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi. Honestly, both are amazing values! The ASRock is fantastic because it actually gives you that PCIe 5.0 slot for the RX 9060 XT without breaking the bank, and the VRMs are super beefy for future upgrades. MSI is also a beast with great stability, though double-check the M.2 lanes so you don't lose speed on ur SSDs. Good luck!!

To add to the point above: honestly, trying to squeeze three M.2 drives and a PCIe 5.0 GPU onto a B650 board is just asking for stability headaches. I've built a lot of rigs over the years, and cutting corners on the chipset usually leads to weird I/O lag or drives dropping out during heavy workloads like photo editing. In my experience, you're much safer looking at the X670E chipset if you want absolute reliability for that RX 9060 XT. The extra lanes mean you aren't constantly checking manuals to see which slot disables another. Basically, it's about peace of mind. I'd look at the ASRock X670E Pro RS or maybe the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi. Both have beefy VRMs and actually handle the bandwidth you need without compromise. TL;DR: Skip the B650 gamble. Get an X670E board to ensure your GPU and all three SSDs run at full speed without lane sharing mess.
