Ive been building PCs since the DDR2 days but AM5 memory training is driving me nuts. Getting my 7800X3D rig ready for MSFS 2024 by Saturday and need a solid 32GB kit.
Everyone says 6000 CL30 is the sweet spot but which specific EXPO kits are actually stable without constant BIOS updates?
saw this earlier and meant to ask, what motherboard are you using exactly? bios versions are still kinda hit or miss depending on the board vendor. i used this in a value build recently:
Regarding what #2 said about "I've spent way too many hours tweaking timings...", i feel that pain. If youre trying to save bucks while staying stable, the Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36 is a solid no-nonsense kit. If you need CL30 tho, check the ADATA XPG Lancer Blade 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30. It fits under big air coolers easily and hasn't let me down yet. Youre gonna love that 7800X3D...
Gonna try this over the weekend. Will report back if it works!
Love the suggestions so far but im actually gonna go a different way. Ive been super satisfied with Mushkin Redline ST 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30 lately. It doesnt get nearly enough credit but it works well without any of the weird training hiccups i saw with my fancier kits. If you want something that just boots and stays rock solid for those long flight sim sessions, its a great shout. Quick tip for the Saturday deadline: once you get your EXPO stable, find Memory Context Restore in your BIOS. Enable that and Power Down Enable at the same time. Itll cut your boot times from minutes down to seconds so you arent staring at a black screen every time you want to fly. Youre gonna love that 7800X3D once its dialed in, its a total beast. Shoot me a message if you get stuck on the BIOS stuff!
Man, AM5 memory training is a nightmare sometimes but hitting that sweet spot feels amazing! Ive used both of these for MSFS rigs and they are rock solid.
I've spent way too many hours tweaking timings on AM5 since it launched. Honestly, people sleep on TeamGroup but they've been my go-to for budget-friendly stability lately. I built a sim rig last month using the TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 32GB 6000MHz CL30 and it posted instantly with EXPO enabled on an ASRock board. Before I dive deeper tho, what motherboard are you actually pairing this with? Some boards handle the memory training much faster than others which makes a huge difference for those MSFS sessions. If you're looking for something low-profile and strictly business, the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 32GB 6000MT/s CL30 EXPO is another one I've tried that just works without the headache. It's been rock solid for me across several 7000 series builds and doesn't break the bank.
Honestly I am so glad I found this thread because I have been dealing with this exact same headache for over a month now!
