I'm totally lost with all these RAM speed numbers. I've got an i9-14900K for my new build next week but dont know what DDR5 to buy.
Sorry if this is basic but what should I actually get...
Stick to 6000 or 6400 speeds for that 14900K build. Anything higher and you start hitting diminishing returns or risking random blue screens during a gaming session. If you want absolute rock-solid reliability without the flashiness, these kits are usually winners.
Be careful with that 14900K because while its a powerhouse, the internal memory controller can be surprisingly picky with high-speed DDR5. If you prioritize stability for gaming, I would suggest staying around the 6000MT/s mark. Pushing much higher often leads to random crashes unless youre comfortable diving into BIOS sub-timings and voltage adjustments. You might want to consider these specific kits for a hassle-free setup:
Yo! congrats on the 14900K, that chip is an absolute beast! honestly dont overthink the speed numbers too much or youll go crazy. for gaming you really want that sweet spot between speed and latency without burning a hole in your wallet. i've been building rigs for a decade and right now these are the absolute winners for stability.
Regarding what #2 said about stability, i've been super happy with my setup by not overspending. Honestly, i think those crazy expensive kits just cause more headaches than they're worth for gaming. Quick question tho, what motherboard are you getting? IIRC some boards really struggle with high speeds if you use four sticks instead of two. TL;DR: Stick to the 6000-6400 range to save cash and avoid crashes.
@Reply #1 - good point! unfortunately, ive had a lot of stability issues with those super high-end kits lately, ngl. waste of money if it crashes every hour. id just go with the TeamGroup T-Force Delta RGB 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 or Kingston FURY Renegade 32GB DDR5 6400MHz CL32. solid performance and way easier to set up. TL;DR: Grab a 6000MHz CL30 kit for guaranteed stability.
