Finding the best low-latency RAM for RTX 4080 Super.

I’m finally finishing up my new build with an RTX 4080 Super, but I’m a bit stuck on picking the right memory to avoid any performance bottlenecks. I want to make sure I'm getting the lowest latency possible to really let the GPU shine, especially for high-refresh 1440p gaming. I’ve been looking at G.Skill and Corsair, specifically aiming for 6000MHz or 6400MHz kits, but I’m confused about whether CL30 or CL32 makes a noticeable difference with this specific card. Given that I’m using an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D, does anyone have recommendations for a stable, low-latency DDR5 kit that plays nice with this setup? Which timings should I be prioritizing for the best snappiness?

Ok so I went through this exact same headache last year when I built my rig. Honestly, with a AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super, the difference between CL30 and CL32 is basically non-existent in real-world gaming. I ended up going with the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30-38-38-96 and it's been rock solid with EXPO.

I also tried a Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 kit, but 6400MHz can be hit or miss on stability with the Ryzen 7000 memory controller. Stick to 6000MHz CL30... it's the *sweet spot* for snappiness. Ngl, you won't even notice the latency gap, but your system will definitely be more stable! gl with the build!

Honestly, after building rigs for 15+ years, I've learned that stability is WAY more important than chasing a tiny latency gain. For a budget-friendly but rock-solid option, I'd suggest the G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL32-38-38-96. It's usually around $100 and uses EXPO profiles meant for Ryzen, which is safer for your 7800X3D. CL30 is technically better, but you're really paying a premium for like 1-2 FPS. Just stick to 6000MHz—it's the sweet spot for stability without breaking the bank.

Sooo, you've basically got the ultimate gaming setup with that 7800X3D and a 4080 Super! I'm still learning the ropes with DDR5 myself, but I've been obsessing over the specs lately cuz I'm planning a similar build. Honestly, with the X3D chips, the massive L3 cache handles so much of the heavy lifting that RAM latency isn't *quite* as punishing as it is on other CPUs... but you still want that snappiness, right?

For the 7800X3D, the "sweet spot" is almost universally agreed to be 6000MHz. Anything higher, like 6400MHz, can sometimes be a literal headache to get stable with the Infinity Fabric on Ryzen 7000. If you want ultra-low latency without breaking the bank, I'd check out the Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76. It uses the Hynix M-die or A-die which is super reliable for AMD EXPO profiles.

Another really solid alternative if you don't care about flashy lights is the Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 UDIMM CL36. It's a bit higher on the CAS latency (CL36), but it's famous for being incredibly stable.

TL;DR: Stick to 6000MHz CL30 if you can. The difference between CL30 and CL32 is like... maybe 1-2% in benchmarks? You won't feel it while gaming at 1440p, but CL30 is definitely the gold standard for "snappiness" right now. Just make sure the kit specifically mentions "AMD EXPO" on the box so you don't have to manually fiddle with timings in the BIOS for hours lol. Good luck with the build!!

Yep, this is the way
