Optimal RAM latency for Ryzen 7000 series processors?

I'm planning a Ryzen 7 7700X build and I'm stuck on memory kits. I know 6000MHz is the sweet spot for clock speed, but how much does CAS latency actually impact performance on Zen 4? Is it worth paying the premium for CL30, or is CL36 close enough for daily gaming? Would love to hear your experiences!

Honestly, 6000MHz CL30 is definately the way to go for the 7700X. While CL36 is okay, CL30 gives you those tight timings that Ryzen CPUs realy love, especially for 1% lows in gaming. I’m pretty sure something like the G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 is exactly what you should look for. Anyway... CL36 is fine if ur on a budget, but CL30 is just better for what you're aiming for.

I kinda disagree... while CL30 is technically better, most gamers won't actually feel the gap compared to CL36 lol. If your on a budget, just grab the cheaper kit and put that cash elsewhere!

Yeah, you definitely want to aim for CL30 if you can swing it... the difference isn't massive in average FPS but it's reallyyy noticeable in those 1% lows for gaming tho. Since you're going with a 7700X - which is a beast btw - pairing it with slower timings can kinda hold it back in CPU-heavy titles like Warzone or Tarkov tho. Most 6000MHz CL30 kits use Hynix chips which are sooo much more stable and better for sub-timings compared to the Samsung dies often found in CL36 kits lol.

I know the G.Skill stuff was mentioned already - but you should check out the CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 or maybe the Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 instead tho. They both perform great and look sick in a new build !! Tbh the price gap has shrunk a lot lately so it’s usually worth the extra $15 to get the tighter timings... it just makes the whole system feel snappier overall tho. Nah, don't stress if ur on a super tight budget - but CL30 is actually the gold standard for Zen 4 right now tho. It's just a smoother experience all around tbh!

So, looking at the raw data for Zen 4, CL30 is definitely the play if you care about frame consistency. The main thing people forget is that CL30 kits are almost guaranteed to be Hynix M-die or A-die, which handle sub-timings way better than the Samsung or Micron chips often found in CL36 kits. Heres a quick breakdown of two solid options:

Pros: Usually Hynix chips, great EXPO profiles, very low latency.
Cons: A bit more expensive, taller heatspreaders might interfere with big air coolers.

Pros: Much cheaper, very low profile for small builds.
Cons: Higher latency, less overclocking headroom, might use Micron dies which dont scale as well. Honestly, if youre dropping cash on a 7700X, dont bottleneck it with slow timings. The 1% lows in titles like Tarkov or Spider-Man really benefit from that extra snappiness... just my experience tho.

Tbh CL30 is the winner. It makes a diff in those 1% lows for sure!! If you can find a kit for a decent price, definitely go for it over CL36 haha.

So far it's a toss-up between going for those tight CL30 timings for better 1% lows or just saving cash with CL36 since the difference is kinda small for most people lol tbh both sides make sense but I’d say if the price gap is SMALL just grab the lower latency because Zen 4 really thrives on it but don't overthink it too much if you're on a budget...
